+1 GuitarZ ffor your quick response.
I guess it was not an idiot question. Got my hairdryer out and heated the rim of the speaker frame.......with my puddy knife, out popped the G12H.
Weber is in, Rt 66 is warming up in the garage..........good things!

+1 back at you for the next guy that wants to swap speakers. The hairdryer idea is genius.

I also made sure I covered the back of the frame with newspaper so that the heat would not affect the speaker cone. ( FYI) Not sure if that would matter, but, seems like it might have been bad. ( Who knows though............maybe "heated cones sound better" UM....NAh!)
GUITARZ- I bet your 68 gold top is a real nice guitar. Big fat neck?

I would guess that it's a big fat old neck, but since it was basically the only guitar that I played from 1976 through 2002, it just seemed like a standard neck. It's a good old warhorse. And to think that at one time I wanted to strip off its finish and give it a clear coat finish. That would have been especially dumb since I would have had no idea as to what I was doing. It's bad enough that I had to have it routed out for a Dimarzio humbucker back in the day. Besides not experiencing any other necks, it strikes me as odd that I never played a Les Paul with humbuckers that I can remember. And I agree, your list of guitars is gluttonist, but nice. There's a picture of it toward the bottom of this thread: drzamplifiers.proboards41.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=strings&thread=1149805176&page=1
