I just felt the need to "gush" about the Mazerati V2. I have to say it kind of boggles my mind and other as well when I tell people "it's about 35 watts". This thing has such a great clean sound. It's punchy and tight without being harsh sounding like some EL-84 amps can be especially when opened up. It's fun to go to a gig, set up, and have guys go "it's only got 2 knobs?.......how many watts". My answer is always "yes....only need 2 and plenty" I played a gig with a guy that was using a Twin Reverb and I kept up with him all night using the Mazerati and a Z-410 cab. I didn't even have to get the volume passed about 10 o-clock and the twin was on roughly about 4-5 on the volume knob. The guy said after the set "that's the meanest 35 watts I've ever heard" I've never really felt "attached" to amplifiers; it's always been to my guitars. I love this amp cuz it amplifies only what you put into it.....it's not coloring it to what it want's your sound to be.....very clean and clear. And it goes without saying but this amp loves pedals. I wish I had more of them Maybe the doc will bring it back! He should maybe in a limited run kinda thing because its just too good of an amp to leave it out to pasture! HINT HINT!

The 'Rati is one of the two Z amps still on my wish list. Congrats on owning a classic!

I entered the Z world about two and a half years ago when I bought a Z28 head (which I converted into a 1x10 combo a little later), and I was able to get a Mazerati v2 '06 off the the BST in October of '12.
I'm one of the people on the forum that uses the amps mostly as a clean platform, and I add pedals according to what I'm doing. Both of these amps are excellent in this roll, suck the pedals right in and through and give a full voice to any of my guitars that I put in the front end. The test of an amp for me is the depth and breadth it delivers in clean tones. Since I use my Rati with either 1x12, 2x12 or both cabs, I'm pleased to say that loud clean is very satsifying and quieter clean is wonderful (like in small or large jazz groups). More than just about any amp I've played (in 49 years of guitar), it imparts each instrument's individual voice and nuances in an unforgiving way that makes me play better.
I had looked at the CG or Maz 18 to go with my Z28, but I'm glad that I went with the Rati. It's a keeper, for sure.

Yes, Albert, if you like what I call the "complex simplicity" of the three knobs on the KT-45/Route66/Z-28/M12, then you'll like the way the Rati plays. I honestly think the tone control on it is a work of art; I've found that I can dial in any room's acoustics so that I'm not stepping on anybody else but am still cutting through no matter what guiar I'm playing.
That said, the only other Z I'd really like to try would be a KT.
