I've heard this term bandied about for years but I've never thought about it 'til now. Supposedly under high volume the alnico will demagnetize for a brief period of time and that's what the compression. At what point does this happen? How many watts are required for a given magnet to do it? Has anyone ever done an a/b comparo between identical speakers except with one ceramic and one alnico? I never have. I wonder if it's true or and old guitarist's urban myth.

While I can give zero scientific info, I have had Weber blue dog 30 watt med. dope in both C & A mag types and the alnico is certainly "softer" , "darker" and "compresses" much more to my liking.
