Comparing a few speakers here to try out with my route....I have an old rectangular 1x12 Z cab I use. I've been considering the following speakers: I really want a greenback type speaker WGS Invader Weber Legacy Celestion Creamback Has anyone tried any of these speakers with their route through a 1x12 open back combo? I run a g12h30 right now but find it is pretty loud and almost a little too glassy on the high end for me....I love the way greenbacks have rolled off rounded highs and they compress and breakup fast. I had a scumback m75 at one time that I foolishly sold But, I am very interested in the WGS Invader because they are so cheap and everyone seems to love WGS speakers. Thanks everyone!

I have not used any of the speakers you mention.
The Celestion Heritage G12H (75Hz) was what I settled on. With a greenback you might need an Airbrake to protect the speaker unless you go with a 2x12. Plenty of folks love the greenies.

I went from a G12H30 70th, to a C-gold (yum), to an EV 12L, to a JBL D120 (yikes), and finally to an Altec 417B... this last one is the perfect match IMHO.

I had a weber legacy in my z 1x 12 cab. 65w / 40oz mag / it was a very mid-range focused speaker. Combined with the Route 66 which a very mid ranged focused amp. I did not care for the combination at all. The gold was nice and the Creamback too. I have the Creamback which I now use in the 1x12 convertible cab with all my amps Maz 18, Remedy & Rt 66.
I sold the weber legacy they are not my type. But I love the Weber 10A100 in my SF Princeton. So much that I prefer it over a 10" Celestion Gold.

I don't have a Rt 66 but my mid focused Z28 really likes the WGS ET65. I had an Invader in a Maz 18 and thought it was good.

I'm a huge fan of the JBL with fenders (nearly all of them), but with this amp if felt brittle and harsh. The altec was the ticket. Even though I sold mine... I still use the altec with the Z28 (same amp but with 6V6's).

Creamback in an open back Z cab sounded AWFULLY good last Friday...

It sounds great through anything. I prefer pre-rola G12H30's (75hz) and brit made celestion H30's or Greenbacks. Closed cabs. VG
