I have a Matchless DC-30 (2x12 combo) and am considering a DR Z Head. Looking at the MazSR. The question I have is can I unplug my speaker jacks from my dc-30 and plug in the Maz into the combo cabinet? Prob. just temporary until I get some more $$$ to buy a Z cab. Also while I decide which cab is really best for me. Thanks - Dante

This is fine, as long as you match up the impedances. Sometimes the speaker cables in combos aren't long enought though, so make sure you have enough slack to reach up to the Z head.

If not it's off to Radio Shack !!! I use an older empty Z 1x12 combo cab as an ext cab and just made a longer cable for that, it stays attached to the speakers (one less thing to forget) and works great. BUT...A dc-30 IS A HELLUVA HEAVY SPEAKER CAB ;D

So what is the impedance of a Maz38. I have a selector switch on my DC for 4, 8 and 16 ohms. I also noticed that the speaker cable going to my DC is tacked down to the cabinet inside and is also saudered to the speaker connectors on the speakers. So can I buy and extension to run from my wire to a head?
I will buy a Z cab but for now if I get a head I'll use my DC-30. Gotta save up some more $$$.

Maz38 has 4, 8, and 16ohm jacks. I prefer this method over the selector switch. Switches tend to get bumped, which could possibly endanger your output tranny....
