Great show. My wife and I haven't missed an episode, thanks to the DVR.

Season one just showed up on Netflix so I caught up real quick. I just got my wife interested last night.

Most beautifully filmed, best acted soap opera ever. Jumps the shark completely every three or four episodes. The Mrs and I are hopelessly addicted.

Wasn't available on Netflix in Canada so one of my Zbrothers gave me a link for StreamTV Watched all 3 seasons within a week, definitely time consuming though so captivating.
If you like Downton Abbey you probably would enjoy The Forsyte Saga

I'm not a huge fan of the show, but the acting is excellent (Maggie Smith is awesome) and it has provided me with a great way to bond with my wife since she has absolutely no interest in watching football, golf or hockey - go figure.

We are addicted here as well.
I watch DA, Mad Men, and occasionally American Pickers. Toss in a few home improvement shows, a Yankee game now and then, and that's pretty much all the TV I watch.
Oh, and Live From Datyl's House.
And Looney Tunes, when I'm lucky enough to catch it.

Anyone catch the season 5 finale last night? Loved it.
Call me a sap, call me a wimp, but that stupid show almost chokes me up sometimes. Almost. Of *course* I wouldn't get teary-eyed about some stupid TV show that didn't involve helicopters and explosions, lest I forfeit my man card. I did, however, get something in my contact lens when Carson proposed to Mrs. Hughes. Dust or something.
It's so refreshing to see a show about people being nice to each other. I always feel good when I watch it, I'm bummed when an episode ends, and I feel deprived when a season ends and I have to wait a year.

They're done after season 6 apparently. Which seems about right; as the 1920s go, so goes the British upper class.

Sounds like a well done show. Never seen any episodes. Sounds like it could be worth catching up on.

I've noticed that several of the actresses on Downton have made it to the big screen recently. Saw them in "The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel" (Maggie Smith & Penelope Wilton) and "Cinderella" (Sophie McShera).

Dame Maggie Smith has been in Hollywood movies since the 60s and is an Oscar Winner. Penelope Wilton has done a ton of movies too. I do love an overnight success though Not having a go buddy, but it did make me smile

I love threads like this...... Downtown was made over here years ago now and is (was) brilliant, loved the first 2 series, the I lost interest, but the women in my life are still hooked and I think it's going on for its 5th or 6th series now...... You guys and girls have LOTS to look forward to, but you'll get no spoilers from me!

In other words, the two most-recent movies I've seen were filled with Downton actresses. You'd be living under a rock if you didn't know the Dame Maggie Smith didn't have a history in movies. On a slightly different note, my house has been a fan of British comedies for years. And we got hooked on British tv way back when All Creatures Great and Small was airing. And, of course, as a kid I grew up watching Monty Python. Dang, I think I had hair back then. And a lot of it. I'm certainly no stranger to British entertainment.

I know buddy, I was just teasing a bit....... it just tickled my funny bone I do enjoy the way great comedy transcends........... when our TV comedy was going through the dreadful 80s/90s you guys kindly sent us the likes of Frasier and Will and Grace...... sublime comedy writing....... which sort of kick started truly clever comedy over here again
