If anyone is looking for BF tones without going the EZG route, they are here in the JAZ.
I was playing around today and put T and M all the way up, kept V around 10 and put B up higher than I normally run it, which is quite low, to compensate for T and M. It sounded great even with the Master on the low side. But move the Master past noon and wow. I was playing an EC Strat, and the sound with Master up may have actually been too bright. Probably need to bring T down a bit.
This was all on half power and it was gratifyingly loud.

I just went down to the Man-cave and fired my JAZ up in honor of your thread - a lot of BF goodness there!

In the words (slightly paraphrased) of the Animals: "I'm just an amp whose intentions are good Oh Lord, please don't let me be misunderstood" And of course here's the video:

I need to swap a tube or two (4?) - but I'm getting there Mike. Sometimes I forget when I've been away from it, just how good this amp is. And why I bought it in the first place. Thanks for the boot to the rear to get it fired up.

Sometimes I forget when I've been away from it, just how good this amp is. Yeah, I find this with all the Zs. Go away from one, then come back and fall in love all over again.

I started out playing guitar through BF Fender amps in the "60's so that is the sound I tend to like. My JAZ fits that so well I have decided to let my '65 TR go as soon as the market turns and prices come back up a little. I still use other amps for rehearsals but my JAZ and my MAZ are the only amps I use now for live gigs. I can't imagine anything that they couldn't cover.

Better yet, if you don't have one, get one!... Check the BST section!
OK, shameless PSA plug over...
I would LOVE to keep it, but my family needs a new house more than I need another amp.

Update to OP: I put a new matched quad of j&j tubes in today. It sure is nice to have this amp back up and singing again. Through a pair of Creambacks, it just cooks.

That setting sounds great! When I first read " set treble to max" I thought you lost it Mike. It's a bright amp to begin with and I usually run T around 9-10:00. But that setting you posted works with the mids cranked like that. Thanks for posting that. I never, never ever would have tried that. It's like I just got another amp!
This amp never stops amazing me.

I just tried those settings Mike, plugged straight in with my Kingbee tele w/Lollars. Very nice, especially with the neck pup. Thanks Then, with the Z28 3-3-3 setting in mind - I maxed T/M/B with the volume at 10 and the master at two. I was playing full power, into a Z 2x10. Such a great amp, nice and loud.
I really like the 2x12 w/Creambacks and the Jaz. But the Dr Z 2x10 - with this amp - is Perfect. It's got warmth, it can crunch. I can just imagine how it would sound with the 4x10 cab.

Hmm maybe you should change your forum name to Jazbstrrrd. I was purposely staying away from this thread 'cause I have always wondered what the JAZ might do for me as a substitute for my EZG (which I love). I'm thinking the availability of the tremolo would be a wonderful thing. Can anyone tell me any other tonal qualities I would gain or miss with the JAZ replacing the EZG in my rig, pro's/con's etc.? Wait didn't I see one on the Buy Sell which I was most definitely NOT perusing the other day?.......

Nick and Tom: I tried that setting because I wondered if it would give up a liitle different gain structure than just running V higher. Glad you guys like it. TMB very interactive a la MAZ. I also have B up well above where I'd have it with "normal" treble and mid.

I appreciate your reminding me (us?) about the TMB being interactive "a la Maz" Mike. Sometimes I get in a plug n' play mind set, and forget just how well the tone stack works. I'm also finding different speakers can change the amps character a lot, just like other Z amps.
