Anyone try a Weber Blue w/ a Vintage 30? I took out one of the Celestion Greenbacks in my 2x12 RxES and replaced it with a Weber Blue - sounds great. I understand that the Weber Blue is Ted's version of the Greenback, so I was wondering if anyone has paired it with a Vintage 30 and has any comments. I have a Vintage 30 laying around, so is it worth the time and effort to do the swap? Playing Country and Blues. Thanks in advance! ;D tomtheguitarguy

Hey Tom, I have and love both those, I have not used them in the same cab but have a/b'ed them with several amps in single speaker set ups and I think the V-30 is considerably louder and would dominate the blue. the blue should match well with a greenie or an emi Texas Heat IMO.

I'd look at the Blue providing the highs and sparkle and get another speaker with stronger mids and lows. The greenback would be lower in efficiency and you may not hear it as much as you'd want, I'll defer to Tele62 on that. I don't think the V30 would get along with the Blue too well.

Well I guess I'll just have to spring for that Weber Silver then!
Thanks a bunch!

A silver would be a good choice. So would another Weber Blue, but with a different magnet. If your current Blue Dog is an AlNiCo, try a ceramic alongside it (or vise versa). This has been my favorite 2x12 combination after trying a whole lot of speakers.
