I am considering getting the power filter upgrade to remove the ghost notes. Any recommendations or hesitations on this?
I primarily use it for a classic rock amp turning it up. In this mode it is less noticeable.
However I notice it a lot more when in "smoky blues" mode just on the edge of breaking up.
I have a KT-45 now as well for cleans. Would the power upgrade make them sound significantly closer or would the change be fairly subtle?

Seems a shame to mod it. Why not just sell it and buy a new 66? The early 66s are one of a kind. It's the version of the amp that Mike Fuller was so big on. Jmho.

I agree with Doc - sell the old one and get a new one. I'm sure there are people that would be interested in the Interstate 66.

I think I'll keep it the same. I wonder if the rectifier change might have an affect on the ghost notes.

I think it's the filtering that will have the largest impact on the ghost notes. That is why Doc added more filters. If you are not happy with the amp I recommend selling it. I had a 2004 with the extra filtering. No ghost notes to be had with that one. Plenty of cleans with her too.

The ghost notes are a non issue for me. I can only hear ghost notes when I'm playing in the basement, really loud, with a Les Paul and listening for them. Never once noticed ghosties in a band setting. I can't even hear them when I'm recording. That said, I know some amps might be more prone than others. I'd never change mine, I've played the newer 66 and I like it, but its not quite the same as the Interstate.

Just want to +1 your recommendation on this. The amp is gorgeous and though the ghost notes can be found if you hunt for them, they seem less pronounced after the visit to the DOC.

I'm glad it's working out for you. It seems as though guys either grow to love the ghost notes or they don't. I hope you are the former. I had a 2004 which I loved. Always wanted to try out an earlier version though.

I'm loving my Interstate! Edoetsch - what number do you have? #9 here I am not sure about the serial number. In fact I've not noticed one. In pencil there is a 1999 date written on the head's cabinet. I have this shot of the back, where would the serial number be?

Oh, it must be just above the anniversary sticker on the left side. I'll check sometime.
