I'm trying to buy a studio slips cover. My head is the oval made in 8/11. When did they change the height. Mine is 9-1/2 opposed to the (new)10-1/4! I thought I had a (new) ver., so are the oval fronts slightly shorter, all other dim. Being the same? $90 for a cover, I want it to fit.

If I remember correctly,
the first EZG's like yours were the slightly shorter ones... then The Jaz 20/40 came out and needed a bit taller chassis to fit the JAZ... So although the chassis widths were the same, the Jaz was a bit taller, as you noticed all other dim. were the same.
So shortly after the Jaz came out Doc Standardized the head cab size so that the EZG and the Jaz used the same taller Jaz size head cab instead of making two different head cabs for basically the same size amp, and also saving costs by doing so... as he's always trying to keep the amps cost down for us (still using oval fronts with taller EZG /Jaz)... then the Oval fronts went away and the new fronts (which I like also) were introduced around about the time he discontinued the Jaz (don't think the Jaz ever used the newer plain front).
People change Chassis out of combos to heads and (head to combos) that may have happened to yours.... probably newer amp with an oval head cab cause someone wanted a head... or could even be a NOS head cab.
Either way, great amp... I like that first shorter head cab with the oval front... classic and won't be any more of em. I also like the newer front on the larger size head cabs and especially on the combos cause it looks like a big EZG "studio combo".
Just contact Susan at Studio Slips and give her the dimensions, or just tell her you have an early EZG head cab as she probably still HAS those dimensions... I have a Studio slips cab that fits mine perfectly and it's the early size like yours.

Thanks Jason, I've got it all sorted out with Susan(she's great.). AFAIK, I bought a brand new ( oval) 9-1/2 H head from Humbuckermusic . The amp was made in Aug. 2011. Why they still had it that long I don't know, but it looks brand new to me, and sounds great. I think I got the last oval, as they're now out of stock (oval). I actually prefer the oval because it has "personality", and is kind of different than most heads today.
