Okay so here's the deal. Picked up a Route 66 and love it to death!!! however I don't use effects and play in a more modern rock band...The route 66 gets the job done no doubt but has to have the volume and eq almost full tilt to get to where I want to be and I can't always crank it up.
Will the srz give me more versatility as far as gain at all levels and still be able to clean up with the guitar volume as well as the route 66?
Or would I be better off getting an attenuator? I just picked up a shorty 1x12 dr. z cab with a g12h30 in it in hopes that it will let me run it cranked at smaller gigs without killing peoples ears and having volume issues.
So, srz 65 or route 66 with brakelite or air brake and the 1x12 cab?

I am told the SRZ has the MOST USEFUL preamp control you will encounter. How well it cleans up probably depends on how hard you run the preamp vs. the master volume. Others can comment as to their experience with this matter.
Many here like the attenuator option. I am not one of them. It's extra gear to have to hook up and to cart around. And the tone I was looking for couldn't be found without running the brake at high settings which causes a loss of cleans.

I use an Air Brake with my Rt66 and it works great. Very transparent sounding to me until you get to the bedroom levels. The G12H30 is also a very efficient speaker. The combination of a less efficient speaker and Air Brake would make a noticeable difference. Worth considering since you seem to like the tone of the Rt66. Good luck.
