I was gazing at the modification list that the Good Doc has put up on his part of the forum. Has anyone tried these mods? Did you like them?
Do tell!

I never tried them either, but did see the list of potential mods. You know how this stuff works bobbyray, you need to try and experiment....and be able to compare the modded sound to the stock back to back. I think I mentioned mine had a SS rectifier when you played it...Keep us posted if ya decide to try some ! Thanks

Here you go drzamps.com/mods.htmlAs a point of reference, all current production MAZ models have the effects loop and tone bypass features. The mods are retrofits for older production amps. There is quite a bit of discussion of the tone bypass in the MAZ 18 section of Z Talk. Do a search and it's likely to turn up.

There is quite a bit of discussion of the tone bypass in the MAZ 18 section of Z Talk. Do a search and it's likely to turn up. That is the list of "factory mods" if you will. I believe the OP is asking for this list of special tweaks mentioned by the Doc: Maz ModsFor the record, I replaced the stock 10k Mid pot in my MAZ Jr. with Reverb with a 25k pot. I will never put it back to stock. The amp has a thick midrange available and, I think, more gain. It makes the reverb version sound a bit more punchy like the non-reverb model, imo. The trade-off, as the Doc mentions in his post, is a less active bass control. The bass is fine to my ears, but if you like a more "scooped" sound, then this mod wouldn't be for you. I made no other cap or resistor mods to my MAZ - just opened it up, swapped out the midrange 10k pot with a 25k, and like I said, it works great for me. Easy to go back if you don't like it. As always, be careful if you are going to poke around inside any tube amp. Best, Eddie

I wanted to live with it for a while and see how it grew on me. Definitely smoothed out the percieved harshness when pushed. I need to try the solid state rectifier next. And yes to those who have been asking...It's the list under the Dr Z section of the forum

He uses the disclaimer that these mods are only for the reverb versions. Anyone care to clarify why?
