All - well I gigged the Galaxie last night through the older model 2x10 cabinet. Had to leave the Airbrake on 4 as we were in a pretty small room. Had V1 at about 1:30 and V2 at 9:00 to 9:30. The V2 channel really is loud and for playing blues I don't need to crank it up that much.
Lots of compliments from my bandmates - though I still love the Z28 - but the clean channel on the Galaxie is just thicker and you get the more percussive feel of the 6L6s - then Channel 2 just eliminates my need for my FD2 - really I could just play straight into the amp with no pedals (but I love all my gimmicks and tricks on my Trailer Trash Pedalboard).
Hope to shoot some video at an upcoming show of the Galaxie in action to post.

I plugged into a Galaxie for the first time yesterday. That is one loud amp!

JD,
I am curious, perhaps surprised, about your comment on not needing the FD2. To me the Galaxie is more grainy than the FD2 and I think they are two quite different sounds. Is it that you just like the Galaxie v2 sound better or that you can get the sound the FD2 formerly provided from the Galaxie?

ubertone:
I guess I find any of these 12AX7 type amps a bit more grainy (compared to the EF86s) - so yeah it is not as smooth as the FD2. However, with the V2 at only about 9 o'clock it seems to work pretty well for me - I think I like it that it is not so smooth compared to the FD2. Still the sound is pretty comparable to the FD2 with the settings on my FD2 at the following: Flat Mids (toggle), V - 10 o'clock, tone 11 o'clock, Gain - 10:30.
