Curious about the price--I'd expect it to be around $1700/1800, since it's "between the Rt 66 and the Remedy." So many Zs, so little money...

Yea Im also not sure it sounds killer. But I think the price is going to be killer as well. I am assuming its going to be just in the head version. So I agree with fleabiscuit Its probably going to be a little more then the remedy and it sells for 1699.00.
Hopefully not but thats my guess.

Mine's ordered - just waiting for official release! Don't know cost - doesn't matter.

I had speculated in another thread that the price would be above the Rem, and Dr Z agreed. He didn't say how much more. Mine's ordered - just waiting for official release! Don't know cost - doesn't matter. I've been in touch with Humbucker to let them know I want one. (See my sig below.)

Could easily be more in the EZG range--verdad. Assuming less because no reverb. All depends on final configuration.

My next amp purchase will be a JTM45 type of build... there are a few good ones out there on the market... We had a prototype here last mini-zfest - it is really a great sounding amp. The one we had was switchable between KT-66 and el34 tubes. It had a vintage/modern footswitch to go between JTM 45 and JTM 50. I thought it was about 45 watts. It also had EQ bypass and Mike mentioned PPIM was being considered. What more can you ask for? P.S. - don't ask - I already know! LOL

I'm interested to see how this turns out, of course...it's a Z It's not a model I'm interested in buying based on the descriptions I'm seeing (I have the vintage Marshall bases covered with the Remedy and my Reinhardt LT-1). I guess I can always hope that Doc does a modded SRZ65 ........o/k, likely not going to happen! Seeing new amps is always fun Keith

the prototype sounded killer and was a real fire breather, I had it up at church and Patty was out in the lobby and had to move to another part of the church to finish the conversation she was having. PPIV MV would be very welcome.
To Keiths comments, ya, its Marshally but its not a SRZ or a Remedy . . . it was very tastey indeed!

Now you have my interest piqued again When you say fire breather, I get the impression that the gain comes on hard and fast like the Maz GT (which is exactly what I'd want!). However, I also hear references to a JTM45 vibe, which to me sounds more like an amp that stays pretty clean or just crunchy until high up on the wick. Was the prototype you played more like the first or the latter? Keith

Thanks for the video guys. Hard to tell what the amp can do from that video as you don't know if there are pedals in the mix, etc, but likely not a vibe I'm looking for. I look forward to a good quality official Dr Z demo video to see its range. Congrats to you guys who have your orders in and just waiting for the release......always exciting times Keith

I hear some of those Marshally-good Hendrix tones coming out of the Antidote.

^^^ it was last summer when I played it last so its been a while. As I recall, it stayed cleaner longer than the Remedy's I've played and had a crisper overdrive. The Remedy break up reminds more of a Marshal growl (a good thing) where the Antidote reminded me more of a Z28 sizzle (also a good thing). Picture a Z28ish overdrive with more of a growl to it. It was muscular sounding and really rocked with the humbucker in my Parker. I didn't play my tele thru is all though but I am sure it would be cool. The tone by pass would send the Antidote thru the roof though (also a good thing) and really gave some awesome power tube overdrive.
The one I played thru was head and was run into my 2x12 with a pair G12-65's in it. Those speakers have a great rock tone to them and it seemed to compliment the Antidote nicely.
I have a video of James playing thru it with the KT-66 tubes in it that I will post as soon as I can find it. The Doc said it was okay to post it now so I'll get that up and running.

Hey Guys I spoke to David Holt Friday, he is the player in the Antidote video's. David is a monster player and has joined the forum, so I look forward to his contributions .
David gave me a wonderful quote " the Antidote combines my two favorite tones the Blackface Bassman and Marshall 50 watter".
