I know that it was designed as a pedal platform, but how does the M12 sound by itself? Does it work well as a stand alone?

I play mine a lot with just a touch of reverb only. Even tho it was made to play fairly clean with pedal support, the M12 will roar when cranked.....

Yeah it sound great without any pedals... is doesn't have enough gain for me but that's just by itself... that's when I just use a pedal or two.
All of its tones all by itself are amazing! Just cranked everything up a lot and man this things is amazing.

That's kind of what I was wondering. I'm getting rid of a TopHat SD to pay for my Maz 8 and at some point I'm going to replace the super clean amp sound in my arsenal. 12 watts should be enough headroom. When I play live, I'm either miked or in a small room. I think the store where I get my Z stuff has one in stock. I'll have to try it next time I'm that way.

It definitely has it's own magic straight in... especially if you can get it above 1 o'clock and push the tone controls past noon.

Yep - turn up the knobs and it breaks up nicely - very sweet!

Lately I've been having to play at really low volumes, like 11:00 volume and on LO input setting. It's really clean and kinda weak ran this way - but I've been working to soup it up with the EQ. Two OD pedals was enough for me but running the volume this low, now it's too clean. But I've been cranking up the Bass control to like 2:30 or so and treble at about 1:00 and man - it's just really cool how this amp can sing this way. Kick in just an overdrive or two and its just so thick and lush.

Tried the M12 with P90's, Humbuckers and Single coils with just guitar-cord-amp and they all sounded great. Had to make quick adjustments such as increasing bass/decrease treble when going from say, humbuckers to single coils but thats a given!! Each guitar sounded like it was supposed to. This amp is very smooth with whatever you throw at it
