I've been experimenting with speaker swaps lately. One thing I'm trying to decide on a 2x12 cab I may order is what ohm load to go with, 4 or 8 ohm? If I go 4ohm parallel, then I can experiment with some of the 8ohm 12" speakers I already own. If I go 8ohm parallel, then I'll obviously have to experiment with 16ohm 12" speakers. One thing I've never wondered about until now is what if any tonal differences may result from the change in resistance. As someone once put, this may be a bit too much like "cork sniffing", but Z amps are based so much on dynamics and touch that it seems that ohm resistance may have a part to play in the final tone and touch response. Any thoughts?
Thanks, -Greg

I say wire 'em up, play 'em, and then switch 'em to the other impedance and try that out. Give us a report. I think the differences will be rather subtle.

pretty much no difference as far as I can tell...wired my 'Ray from 4 to 16 couldnot hear any difference at all....maybe just my ears....but if I can;t hear it and I am trying ...then no one else is going to hear it either...just MHO.....
