This is something I'd like to try Me too! Could be a great thing if it really sounds like a Blue as Celestion claims. I've been searching the web and cannot find any info on when they will be available.

Hi Guys, The Gold should be ready to ship in late April or May. I may be biased, but we spent a lot of time on this and pretty much nailed the tone of the Blue, specifically a slightly broken-in Blue which is not a bad thing! Usually we're the first to build something, and then others will come along with a clone or a higher powered model in this case (and kudos to Weber, he does nice work!). This time was different....others built the higher powered model first and then we decided to step up once we saw the demand. I gig 3-4 nights a week and use Blues myself, so I'm just as anxious as you to try them! ;D

Just meant that it's sort of how your first post read. Ted's Blue Dog isn't exactly a replica of a G12 Blue, either. Either way, a higher powered blue is a *great* idea for guys who either blow them, or think they don't quite hold up at higher volumes. Very cool news for blue fans, and I'm sure Celestion has hit a home run with this one! Welcome to the forum, and thanks for taking the time to share the info! JC

The Blue takes more power than it's rating IMO ...
What kind of amps/power and cabs were used as this speaker was designed?

No, from my experience a ghia is perfectly OK with a single 15 watt blue.

I have got an Alnico Gold on order to replace the Black Shadow 90 in my Mesa cab. Was tempted to get the 15 watt blue to go with the Ghia but I suspect it wont take a Z-28! Really looking forward to trying it.

I wonder how a Mazerati or Stingray in a 1x12 Combo would sound with a Gold? Probably Great! Would be interested in Z's feedback as soon as he tries some in various Amps. Mark

Mark Talked with Z about a gold loaded 1x12 'ray this week, he has not heard the gold yet, so gotta wait a while still. I am anxious to hear a Gold.

Seems like we are going to have to wait a while for the Gold. My order was bounced back with the message from Celestion that "they were a long way off" with production. :/

Hi Guys..... I didn't mean to leave you hanging!! The first two Gold's arrived at my house two weeks ago and they debuted with huge approval at the LA Amp Show. I suggest you ask someone that heard them there (for the "unbiased opinion), but the feedback was generally "whoa, it sounds like a Blue!". After the clean test, I cranked the amp and hit it with a OCD pedal (paint peeling volumes!). At that point the crowd was rather shocked to hear an Alnico that could hang with metal crowd! haha

I guess they will not be in stock until august 15th. I got an e-mail saying they would ship as soon as they had 'em in. I am thinking this is going to be a great speaker for the rt 66.

I'm excited about this, also. I have a 1x12 cab that currently has an EVM12L in it, and the Gold might be a good option for the Stang in this cab (easier to carry than the 2x12, for sure!)

The hype is building with this speaker... Tone quest is all over it in a big way! Anyone hear it at namm or La amp show?
