Hi all! Loving my new route 66 and the other guitar player in my band loved it so much he is looking into buying a Z as well. We are both wondering what compliments the route 66 well?
It needs to be comparable volume and be able to crunch as we are playing rock music mostly. we both feel something a bit brighter would work well with the 66. So far the top candidates are the Zwreck, Rx or Rx es, or the Mazerati normal or GT version since we both love the Carmen Ghia.
Other Z amps I'm not sure about that might work are the Remedy, KT-45, SRZ, or the Stang Ray. Though I'm not sure the Ray has enough break up and am afraid the SRZ and KT-45 might be too loud.
The MAZ Sr. is out of the question. While appreciate the MAZ 18 I had and I can see why it is such a loved amp I never bonded with the MAZ series for some reason. Neither did my buddy who is looking into buying.
So share your experiences and thoughts! thanks everyone!

I have a Route 66 and a Remedy. I like both. They are significantly different but in the same league as far as volume & rock & roll-ness. The Remedy can crunch. :-) its a VERY nice amp, period! Both great amps for rock & roll. Speaker & cab choices will also contribute much to the tone. I have a 1x12 Creamback which is nice. My favorite cab is my old Mesa 2x12 3/4 closed cab with a G12H / V30. I've never heard a Z-Best cab but from what others say it must be a REALLY great choice.

I like the RX better than RX ES. Remedy would work as would a Mazerati. GT is very loud without MV and it really is hard to get a bright sound from.

Well so far the top 3 contenders are the Stang Ray, Zreck, and Rx/Rx ES.
we got the chance to play the Rx Jr. and loved it!

Since you like the Ghia so much, and so do I, give the Mazerati or GT a try.
