Ok, so I'm a big fan of the M12 overall. I use it in the 1x10 combo. I am absolutely happy with the OD sounds I get from pedals and such. However, the cleans just aren't doing it for me. I'm not sure if it's the 10" speaker that is causing me to not hear what I want in the cleans or if it's the nature of the amp itself. It is meant to be a "clean" amp after all, but it's almost hi-fi sounding if that makes sense. Even though it is touted as a super clean pedal amp, there are times when I need to use with no pedals, except for a delay maybe. Any thoughts?

Out of curiousity, have you ever played a Two Rock The cleans hit me the same way, almost too hi fi
I know what you mean about the M12, but I actually like the cleans. Notice a big difference in speaker changes. Have a Jensen P12N hooked up to it now, that's like a Gold, but less Voxey sounding This setup sounds Black Facey, but with mids

I agree the cleans are kinda hifi. Probably the amp. But I like the cleans. I like them sparkly and clear... which the M12 does great. I think GMD's demos if the M12 represent it very week.

My M12 is a combo with a 1 x 12 greenback. I commonly hook up (in addition to the combo's spkr) a Z cab with a G12H30 which really makes the most wonderfully harmonic cleans I've ever heard..... Not that they're lacking with the Greenie by itself, just a whole lot more of a good thing with the two different speakers simul;taneously....

I dunno man, I haven't heard it through a 1x10, but I love the cleans through my 1x12 gold...

Guess it depends on what kind of clean you're going for. I have the 12" Greenback combo, and I LOVE my Tele plugged straight in. It's clean heaven for me, with that slightly percussive sound I've been looking for. It sounds like a good studio recording of a clean guitar. Of course, that may be too clean for some. When I use my Strat, I have my Lovepedal OD11 turned on with the level and gain at about 10:00 and bass and treble at noon on the pedal. This gooses the M12 perfectly to give it that little bit of edge (or more, if I bring the OD11 gain up). What's nice is when I really want a nice funk clean, I turn off the OD11 and turn on my SP Compressor. I guess that's the whole point of this amp is that it's a good foundation, and if the clean had too much character you couldn't take it out; however you can always add more color with pedals.

The clean tone has been both great and interesting for me. I sold a Maz 18NR head for my M12, specifically because I thought the Maz had more volume and available gain than I really needed. And. if I could simplify my controls, then great. I have what I think is a really versatile pedal board (Timmy, Demeter Fuzzulator, BB, OCD, Keeley Phaser, Retro Sonic Delay, T Rex Roommate and EP booster), and I think I am going to part ways with a Wren and Cuff TFR and CMATmods Black Plague as I just don't hear what I want. The pedals, however are not what I find most interesting. I play a PRS McCarty, and what I have come to find is that I love the coil tap. The buckers sound dark to me, darker than I want when clean. The buckers sound great with the Fuzzulator and OCD especially. This makes me want a Tele even more Regardless, 2 days in and I really like what I hear in this amp. BTW, I am running it through the Docs 4x10 with his speakers. Really really like what I hear! Of course, this is 2 days in. I am obligated to spend some more quality time with it to feel out what I like the best about it.
