my ac30 doesn't have a master volume and the volume comes on really fast. I'm hoping to use the brake light for the same reasons as everyone else which is to hit the sweet spot at gigs but could this help make my amp a little more feasible to play at home? I'm not talking studio quality tone, just playable in my apt.
Thanks!

I have an airbrake and brake lite. Live in a townhome with a common wall between neighbors, and usually only practice when the wife and kids are asleep. Theyre two floors up..... The airbrake bedroom setting is great for this, the 4th click on the brake lite doesn't get me quiet enough unless the volume knob is very low.

Maybe I need an airbrake.... How's it sound at bedroom level?

Based on your requirements I think you'll like it. My needs are similar, not looking for it to sound exactly like a cranked amp, just want to get some power tube distortion without waking kids or having te cops called.
Bedroom setting is a little compressed, but it doesn't bother me.

Yeah, Airbrake is probably more flexible in this situation. The key is to start at maximum attenuation. If you start wide open and turn down with the attenuator, you'll end up selling it. Start at max and turn up if needed - you'll love it.

Airbrake would be better - My Brakelite works OK on my silverface deluxe at 22 watts, but sure isn't bedroom volume!

I agree with the above guys - airbrake would be better than brakelite (though I am using my brake lite with my Remedy these days to keep the roar to a minimum at home )

The Air Brake will probably suit your needs and an AC30 better. I use the AB on a Z Wreck and it is loud even with the AB at 4. The Bedroom setting knocks the volume back more. Can't do that with the Brake Lite.

Agreed with all above posts - the BL is better for knocking down a few DB at practice or a gig. Even maxed out, its still pretty darn loud.

Same as doctorice: have a Z-Wreck which is a design not far away from the AC30. I use the bedroom setting at home being everything else too loud. The sound is still great for practicing at home.

Brake Lite goes to -11db. Airbrake goes to -25 db. See the links in my signature for all of the info.
