New Year's Eve 2011 was the first gig I used my brand new Maz 38 Sr with matching 2x12 open back cab. I am a normal guy with a normal job, wife and kids. So, it took me a very long time to save up for this amp. Lots of daily youtube videos watching Dave Baker demo the amp I longed for. Right before Christmas of 2011 I was able to finish my set up. I had ordered the cab first and had it for a couple of months before I found a really good deal on a new old stock head. So fast forward to last Monday night, same New Year's gig we always do and a full year with the Z. I just can't say enough about my amp. It has inspired me to be a better player and tone chaser. My band members have also taken notice as well. They all rave about the tone I am able to get from my rig. There are some Wampler pedals in front of the Z and I love my sound. The Z has seen about 35 gigs and I have loved every minute of using this amp while playing out or in my music room at home. One of my favorite things is when other guitarist in the area see us playing out they all rave about the Z, how awesome it looks on stage and how awesome it sounds. So all I really wanted to express is that I love my Z to death!! I am still toying with the notion of adding a second 2x12...............Thank you Dr. Z!!

I second that...I have a Maz 38 w/Reverb with G12H & Celestion Gold speaker and it is, IMO, one of those special amps that are amp-hall-of-fame material if there ever was one. I've had so many amps over the years and this really is the only one that I can say I'll have until I'm dead in the ground.
Such a touch-responsive, elastic-feeling and articulate tone.
I blend it with an EL-84 powered Mesa at times and it also sounds incredible.

I echo every compliment you gave that amp. I just got done playing mine 5 min ago. Was playing with the settings using the MAZ 18 PDF we have here on the forum. My fav are the one the Good DR suggested as well as a couple from Bentop Steve and the one that really got me smiling is BW's suggestions. Straight right to the amp, no pedals, no nothing. it was so beautiful. I don't gig so I am a bedroom player but once in a while i play it with no air brake for a couple of minutes . It has been a stress reliever for me. I truly enjoy it. I spend my time working long hours and I used to be a competitive powerlifter and my body is beat up. About 2 years ago I decided to try my dream of really sitting down and learn to play. I did the same thing most guys do and go to GC. They were very nice to me there but it is your common everyday gear at high price. I didn't know much then. 2 years later and with a bit more knowledge I am happy with my gear. Good guitars and my 2 amps are DR Z (maz 38 and Monza) it cost $$$$ but so did the surgeries I had to repair my injuries from powerlifting. When finances allow I will purchase another Maz, maybe the 18 to compliment the one I have and just in case one goes down for repair I have another Maz in hand.....thanks DR Z

I played a Maz 38 recently(at GC of all places..used) and MAN I wish I could have taken it home. Sounded TERRIFIC with a Strat and I think I actually liked it better than any Maz 18 I have played or owned.
