A great cab indeed.....cures my need for a 4x12".Probably the best 2x12" on the market right now.
I love the way it thumps and feels like a much bigger cab...great for stage real estate too, when things get cramped.
Anyway....what have you guys tried for speakers in your Z Best and how did you like them.
I'll go first....
2x Celestion Greenback RI...came stock.I found they broke up too much at the vulumes I play at....nice at lower volumes.
2x Weber Blue Dog ceramic 30 watters.....I liked them, but found the were not as full as I would have liked...much like the green back...maybe a bit more lows and more top end too....I did prefer them to the Two GB's.
2x V30's.....Theses were realy loud...lots of mids, great punch, a realy stong speaker...but I swapped them out....I think I just got tired of them, used them in everything for 6 years or so.
1 Weber Blue Dog and One Weber Silver bell....50 watts, Alnico Plus mags. These are a hybrid mag from Weber. Ceramic and Alnico parts in the mag and are simply great speakers in my opinion. They have a bit of both flavours going on, they are strong and stay tight like a ceramic, but have a definite alnico vibe when driven hard too, good compresion and they don't get mushy when cranked....great cleans too....more guys should try these out......it's what I've settled on for speakers with My maz Sr Nr....they work great with my Marshalls too.
One Weber California and one Weber Thames.....These were realy bold...almost too much so when driven hard. For cleans they were a great pair. The Thames added a nice bit of chime and the Cali was realy full sounding...realy full range and Hi-fi-ish..but not steril.....these speakers worked out great in a jenkins cab...open back.
I've run my amp through a bunch of other cabs and speaker set ups....but that's what I've popped in my Z-best.
