Hey guys,
I'm new to the z forum. I recently picked up a Maz 8 and have been meaning to join this forum. I purchased it from Humbucker Music about 3-4 weeks ago. I must say it is fantastic. Definitely an extremely versatile amp. With the EQ being so sensitive and the bypass it just seems there are endless tonal possibilities. Throw in a couple cool pedals, which it takes extremely well, and you can get lost for hours. I live in a condo and do not gig so the 8 is the most practical of Dr Z offerings for me. It is very loud though so i did get the brake lite option. I hope everyone else is enjoying their Maz 8 as much as i have been. I don't know if i can pick a favorite mode just yet. It really depends on the mood I'm in, what i want to play and what guitar i want to pick up. It's great to have options and the Maz 8 has just increased mine tremendously.

Thanks. It is an amazing amp that keeps revealing new tones every time i sit down with it for a while. I live in Atlanta and actually have a number of cool gear stores near me so i was able to test a number of low wattage amps and the Maz 8 was the winner. Although, admittedly i went in a little biased with the intent of getting a Dr Z. There are some great amp builders out there but for my first amp in this price range i wanted the peace of mind that comes with a Dr Z amp purchase. I hope you get your Maz 8 but it looks like in the mean time you have other Dr Z's to keep you busy.

Welcome. Here's a tone settings sheet that we've been keeping for the MAZ 18 Jr, but it should also be helpful for the MAZ 8. Keep in mind, though, that the single-ended 8 does behave differently from the dual EL84 18. It's a great little amp and, as you've noticed, quite loud

Thanks for the rig compliments. Although the little Marshall's are a bit pricey for a 1 watt amp they are actually quite versatile and the most perfect amp i've ever played for a bedroom/living room type set-up. They sound fantastic even down at .1 watt. I stopped equating price to wattage a while back. I judge the price of my amp based on the tone it kicks out. As with my awesome Maz 8, the little Marshall's are incredible tone machines. You can also use it as a preamp plugged into your favorite 50 or 100 watter fx loop if you need gigging volume. A great option when having to plug into a backline. The JTM1 is probably my favorite although it's hard to pick a favorite. I think the clean tone of that amp is comparable to my Maz 8. I think the Maz 8 has great body, maybe because of mids, to the clean tone and that adds depth to the overall sound which i might like even better than my deluxe. It is great to have a sweet collection of tube amps and i might enjoy buying amps even more than i enjoy buying guitars. The Maz 8 is without a doubt my favorite and most versatile in my collection.
