Hey guys,
I'm considering selling my M12 1x12 combo, (Blonde), to get a Remedy head. What are your thoughts? I've never played a remedy before. I already have a Stang Ray 1x12 combo, (Red), which I love!!! I just think I'd play the Remedy more than the M12. I play regularly with my country band. The M12 is great, but it doesn't do anything that my Stang Ray can't do. I switch bewteen the Ray and the M12 for my gigs, but since I have the Brake Lite on the Ray, it does everything I need. It just doesn't make sense to me to have two amps that are pretty close in sound. The only real difference to me is that the M12 is only 12 watts and comes in handy when playing a smaller venue, but like I said before, I can use the Brake Lite on the Ray and control the volume. I'd appreciate any advice. I'm also open to any offers for my M12. It has a nice road case with it.
Thanks, Jason

I think you're justified by your reasoning. Although the '12 is no slouch, the 'Ray and the Remedy are two of the Doc's most revered amps—one for clean, and one for mean. That would be one enviable pair of amps to own.

The M12 is definitely no slouch and I love it, I just feel that the Remedy would be a better fit for me since I already have the Ray. I will NEVER sell the Ray unless I lose my job or something. That is my FAVORITE amp!!

Rem's got a killer clean tone too, FWIW.

I think everyone should own a vintage Marshall style amp. I have an M12 and Maz 18 Jr NR and it's always a completely different feel and flavor when plugging into my Germino Monterey 100 half stack. They're all equally magical but in different ways. I can never see myself ever selling any of them. So, if I were you, I'd seriously consider keeping the M12 and ADDING the Remedy. I can't imagine the lower powered M12 sounds and feels exactly like the Ray.

The perfect solution to your problem is this: Gig the M12 more, lol. Just kidding, but like mazmaster said the M12 and 'Ray feel and sound way different. Most of the places I play I couldn't get the 'Ray into the sweet spot. Half the time I can't get a Maz Jr or Rx Jr to the sweet spot either. That's not the case with the M12 though. It really seems to be about the right volume vs sweet spot range, with a much bigger sweet spot at that.
I'm not knocking your choice of the Remedy at all. And we all have different ears. So I guess what I'm trying to say is this - if it's possible to have all three, a StangRay, M12, and Remedy would pretty cover all the bases!

Yeah I should keep the M12, but I don't know if I can. If I did, I would probably keep it in the house as a practice amp, cuz I don't need 3 gig amps. I do agree that I need to gig with it more. It is easier to get the "sweet spot" with the M12 than the Ray. Maybe my ears are different, but I feel they are similar in a lot of ways, but not EXACTLY the same. I don't think my Fiance' will go for me having 3 Z amps plus all my guitars. She calls is an addiction, I call it tools for my trade:) We'll see what happens. You have now tempted me to keep it instead of having some money in my pocket. Decisions Decisions!!

I've posted this elsewhere, but I have a route 66, a Z28 and now an M12. Three amps with the same front end preamp and tone stack, but with different power sections (and speakers in my case). We expect too much from the knob labeled volume. A volume control on a tube guitar amp is not an adequate device for adjusting the loudness - and I know that 'sounds' silly. Having three amps with different loudness ranges is a nice luxury.

Well I just took my M12 off Ebay. You guys were right. What was I thinking?!! I need to keep it cuz if I don't, I'll most likely regret it later. It does come in handy when playing smaller clubs. Now I'll have the Stang Ray, M12 and Remedy. That's a pretty AWESOME trio!! What's next? A Maz Jr. an EZG 50 or a Carmen Ghia? I wanna have a huge collection of Z amps!! They ROCK!!!

I love my M12, but I still miss the other Z's that have come and gone. I wish I could afford them all.

Hahaha....I've got a Ghia and love it. Someone here described it's tone as 2 parts Marshall and 1 part Vox. I just love playing it at all areas of the volume knob. So that's my vote to add to your "addiction"....er a "collection of tone tools".
