Hey Strato, Deep Ellum Blues on Friday the 27th, this coming Friday. Bring your neighbors! Bring your wife! Bring your neighbor's wife! We're gonna play all the dusty ol' rock 'n roll covers you thought you could only hear on KZPS at drivetime on the Jawge Dubya Bush Turnpike and maybe a shuffle or two... Zane's bringin' his blue Lentz and maybe we can get Bluzsteel to bring a sack lunch buffet for everybody from Massey's famous chicken-fried steak in Cowtown...

Dave, between Zane and the bassplayer's wife, we almost ALL got fired for Ft Worth Criminal Code Violation 83.1/12: Unlicensed Photography In A Blues Dive... Looks like if ya were gonna photograph somebody, you'd get somebody a little easier on the eye! THAT's the real 'crime'...

Utter hoss manure. Evidently some blues geniuses used video footage from there for sale at their gigs, ASCAP and/or BMI got wise and tried to collect licensing fees (from the musicians in the video) to no avail, so they went after the venue from where it was 'pirated'. Ain't like its The Stones, prolly more like the Can't Hardly Playboys. Couldn'ta been much revenue involved...

Curt, the info for Friday the 27th is at: www.deepellumblues.com (sorry Lefty, I know it's the wrong forum, but since we're discussin' it....) y'all make like a baby and 'head out'!

Yeah we got the "Beer Joints" out here on the East coast too, although we don't put up the fence between the band & audience like ya'll do in Cowtown. At this "dive" the attention to the side was a Softail with straight shots kickin' up a ruckus while we're trying to get a cheap band pix. ;D

That is one SWEET looking bike, your personal trainer wife wears a do-rag and looks mighty fine on the back. ;D My wife would never drive with me 4 hours (each way) to pick up a guitar, and furthermore would never ever ride on my Harley. That's it, I'm showing her this thread!

Buddy,
I've been playing guitar for over 39 years (ouch!). Blues and Southern Rock. I haven't bought an amp in about 25. I've been using very old Tweed Fenders. No complaints there. So.....I'm driving to Home Depot, whip on the radio to my favorite station, "Nothin but the Blues" (great California radio program) and luck would have it, right at the starting notes of "Blues for the Lost Days". I sat in my car in the parking lot and listened to the entire song, with my jaw sitting in my lap. First, and most important, your guitar playing was absolutely inspiring! Second, the tone was something I've been searching for.....for many years. I immediately bought that album and listened to it over and over. That's it! I just bought a used MAZ 38 Sr. (which will arrive in about 5 days) and I can't wait to test drive it with my Strat. I don't know if it's the EL84's, the Celestions, the amp design, cut control, all of it or what....but it's got the right sound. Your touch is a huge part of the sound I realize, but beyond that, there is something to these amps that sounds right to me. Thanks for getting me excited about playing again. I'll let you know in about a week if my tone quest was reached!
Another quest will be to make sure I catch you at a show somewhere in California. Looking forward to it!
JL
