Thanks all for helping me make my decision, especially the couple guys I was PM'ing with. I found a good deal on an M12 head and pulled the trigger...should be here within a week! Now to decide on speakers and find a matching seafoam green cab.... I'll report back when she gets here.

How much you get the head for? And you found a used Surf Green M12 head? Where?
Good luck on the search for the Surf Green cab - I searched for a month with no results with good used prices. People who have these used think they've been discontinued. Lol. I told them they should contact Humbucker Music, lol!

I think you will find a world of possibilities with the M12. I put mine thru the paces with new and vintage cabs...single 12s and others...high end...and low end vintage deals. It was hard to find a cab that sounded BAD.

Pretty lucky I just happened across it during a google search. Super nice guy to deal with too. I'm thinking Im gonna get a Z style 2x12 cab made in the same rough black tolex and a black/tan grill. Then down the road I can buy a yard of the seafoam tolex and recover the baffle with it. Should look pretty cool I think, plus then I can get it with the convertible back and stereo jack plate I want. That or I will be impatient and buy a Seafoam cab from Humbucker .

Man....the M12 has been sitting at my PO box in the states since Friday...the Celestion Gold for it is there too. Waiting on the stupid cab so I can pick it all up at once; its killing me, but hopefully I'll have her tomorrow.

Congrats on the M12 head. I love mine! It's really turning out to be the perfect wattage without the need for attenuation for nailing the sweet spot with pedals for my gigs...and the perfect voicing as well. I like mine best (when traveling light) with a Forte 3D112 cab loaded with a WGS Blackhawk HP that I have owned long before the M12 arrived. But, it also sounds totally off the hook and huge into my Germino 4x12! Enjoy!

Here she is, what a beaut! I was actually REALLY surprised at just how much I liked the tones of this baby just plugging direct in, even with the V30. I put in about an hour or so to get accustomed to that, then dropped in the Celestion Gold...bam, exactly what I was looking for (and made to V30 sounds like poo)...the only thing that tore me away from it was my fingers not wanting anymore abuse. Maybe I'll post up a review in a few days or so once I've had more time in.

Boy, one thing I've learned about this amp over the last couple days is that you really need to throw out any idea of how the controls SHOULD work and just play with it a bit. I'm used to my overdrive/fuzz/distortion pedals only working with a completely clean amp...so that's how I tried to run it. To be honest I was a bit put off by how they sounded...especially given the "pedal friendly" label of this amp...there we're just "meh". However, I turned the volume down a bit, and cranked up the bass and treble to give it some natural breakup, and wouldn't you know it, the pedals sound killer running into it like that! I love that high/low switch too...running a bit loud for practice? Switch it down to low, tone stays the same but SO much quieter; I'm impressed by how well it works.
I'll say again, I'm actually pretty damn amazed by the tone of this thing. There has been a lot of talk about how well it takes pedals, but I dont think the pure tone of the amp is talked about enough. Especially with the Gold in there, it has such a great chimey clean tone...a lot like my AC30 had with the blues, but the volume is so much more manageable, and it doesn't get mushy. Slap on any type of pedal and you get any sound you could need...its still the honeymoon, but this really could be the one I've been looking for.

^^^ Congrats on the amp! I too think it sounds really great on its own -- an unexpected bonus from Doc's pedal platform
