Now why doesn't that suprise me! He has always had great tone and taste. Now I wanna see that tour.....wonder if he'll make it down here? The thought of missing it is..."driving me mad, making me crazy"
I'da sworn that song said, "You treat me like I was your ocean, you swim in my butt when its warm" Now there's one for www.kissthisguy.com along with "Big ol' jet had a light on...." Only thang is, all the amps and cabs are offstage. Only the KBDs& drums are visable and they all have the in-ear monitors. Last time I saw 'em in Dallas, the sound was so clear and clean that it was kinda 'un-rock n' roll' 'cause you could hear the vocals so good! Boy, he has a catalog-o-tunes, don't he?
Once again BW comes through when I need a good belly laugh! That is a classic!!!! I actually do that song when I play acoustic covers...I don't think I'll be able to do it now without cracking up! I love playing "Jungle love" on the mini.

You ever notice the wild pickup configuration on one of those guitars on the cover of one of his early albums? I was always partial to My Dark Hour. I first heard that tune before I'd ever heard of Steve Miller. I thought it was Johnny Winter at the time. McCartney is supposed to have played and sung backup on that song.
77 guitars and 75 amps! "A noble spirit embiggens the smallest man." Jebediah Springfield www.luckysoandsos.com
He has a weird old Ibanez that was profiled in one of the git-tar rags a few years (decades?) ago, said his favorite amp was his brother's tweed Bassman. I think he lives up off of Washington State on an island up there, is it San Juan Island? Maybe. I know he had a home studio in Sand Point Idaho a few years back and Paulie was a part time neighbor and studio guest. Man, what must THAT be like? Like J Page and Paul Macca jammin' at Jeff Beck's wedding a while back, wish I'da been a fly on the wall at that one. But NOOOO! I had to play my OWN wedding.;^) and the *!@%$ didn't PAY me, either.
Saw SMB last evening! Show was great! Eric Johnson, who was the opening act, joined Steve for most of his set. It was actually Eric's B-Day, so they brought him out a cake and we all sang "Happy Birthday" to him. Steve then brought out a tweed guitar case and gave Eric, what looked to be, a Fender Custom Shop, White Strat, with gold hardware. Steve had the StangRay up front and there was also a Dr. Z beige head up on stage with a Bogner Cab. It wasn't miked though.
Man, that's a first, usually all Steve's amps are offstage! That's a good lick for Z, kinda like the current 'Keeley' ad in VG w/ BP....Can't buy that kinda press! (guess ya could, but.. 'why' if ya don't HAVE to?) Brad sorta snuck that Stang in there subliminally;^)

Yes Sir !! Bradly took care of Doc with that shot ;D It's been in the last two issues of VG. Looks more like a Z ad than a Keeley !!!

TeleFreakSteve here! I saw an absolutely AWESOME display of Steve Miller's blues capability on Sept 3rd at the Oregon State Fair, in Salem, OR. He had Curtis Salgado & his two fine lead guitarists there for an entire blues set. He had his amp on stage because of the limited space (no backstage area, just stairs to a parking lot!). The Dr. Z absolutely filled the outdoor amphitheatre. You could hear him ALL OVER the ride area of the Fair as he cranked it up during an early practice session. I don't think he had it miked either! I have a bunch of cool pictures, which I will post when I figure out this site. Today, Nov. 9th, '06, is my first appearance here, and I can't tell you enough of how impressed I was with his amp and, of course, the fact that he had chosen a Z. Everything he did was crystal clear, with huge tone, including his electric sitar on "Wild Mountain Honey." I had seen him the previous year and was disappointed that he was letting Pancho do most of the guitar work, but then I found out he had had a "neck injury," but he has obviously recovered because his performance this year was STELLAR! My credentials for rating this go way back to 1968, when I first saw him at the Fillmore in SF, and later, during the 70's at the Palladium Ballroom in LA. If you get a chance to see him, SEIZE IT IMMEDIATELY. The man is a genius.... Love and Peace from Selma, OR Steve & Janet
That to me look like Z invation with full force. .They come to take over your ordinary TONE.
