Death Cab for Cutie had a stage full of Z amps!! both guitar players were using two amps each. not sure of the models, but the big Z was very prominant. the band sounded good and the Z's looked awesome.

i saw lucinda williams on Austin City limits a few years back, right after car wheels came out,. Her lead player was using a Z, i think it was a maz. i knew was lurking in the backline before i saw it just from the tone.

Doug Pettibone. I didn't know he used a Z, but it doesn't surprise me. It would fit well with his style. That guy has TONE.

The lucinda Williams on Austin CL did not feature Doug pettibone. The guitarist was great, two of them actualy. One did use what looked like a maz jr. I have seen Pettibone play with Williams 3 or 4 times, never close enough to tell for sure but it looked like he had a matchless each time. Pettibone has a web site now but does not say what amps he uses. Peter Zarkadas

Aww, the trials and tribulations of having an incredibly common name. Not only am I only one of (no doubt) countless John Jackson's who play guitar (enduring endless "Jack Johnson" jokes at every turn), but I'm not even the only one that plays a Dr. Z!! Oh well I guess I'll just have to diferentiate myself by the way I play. -- Uncle Eb
