After focusing primarily on the HI mode of this amp since getting it last June, I rediscovered the LO mode last night like I never heard it before. After re-tweaking volume and EQ, I am actually liking it more now than HI mode, both with and without OD pedals. The highs and high mids are a little sweeter and OD pedals seem to be a little smoother and more articulate...rounder. That little bit of edginess/aggressiveness of high mode which is there almost no matter where you put the TREBLE knob is gone in LO mode. I still like the HI mode for a few things, but I think that LO mode is going to be my main setting going forward!

Agreed! I love the LO mode just for the reasons you mentioned. Not only is there a considerable cut in decibel level, it just seems to be the sweet spot for pedals. My Rockett Blue Note and Animal just sound amazing via the lo mode.
I do love the hi mode when i plug straight in though. However, i never really do that unless i am at home, not at gigs unless forced to by some sort of malfunction.

I've been curious about this - I'll definitely make sure to experiment with this today.

Hmm... Too bad it doesn't have the dual jacks so that a footswitch could be used to switch between the two.

Hmm... Too bad it doesn't have the dual jacks so that a footswitch could be used to switch between the two. You could modify that with a footswitch easily However most high/lo switching comes with a noticeable volume jump Usually you have to tweak after switching

Originally, I disliked the Lo mode (assumed it was for P-90 and Humbuggie guitars) and loved the Hi.....now I use the Lo mode almost exclusively....even with my strats and teles...

Switching between the two would be impractical IMO. Level jump is too high. When using pedals, gotta select one or the other and dial in per selection. Not really necessary if using pedals for OD as the amp serves as the base clean tone, which the LO mode does very sweetly!

So I really liked the Lo input mode on my Maz but since I've had the M12 haven't been so big in the lo input mode. But since a lot if guys here have been talking a lot of good about it I've been experimenting with it more and more. And I'm really starting to like it! I just had to dial up the bass a bit and add significantly more treble to drive it a little harder and BAM! There it was - great tone at a lower volume

I guess I'm pretty generic.....When I play my LP or 335 I use the Lo. When I use Strat or Tele I use Hi. Love having this option. I don't even have to re-eq

I dont really ever switch out of low unless I really need more volume. It hits the sweet spot for me.

I finally had the change to audition an M12. It was a head into a 1x12 cab
Really amazed how much the Low setting dropped the volume!
As I may be getting a 1x10 combo soon, I thought I was going to need a Brakelite. Now I wonder if it is necessary. May order without it at first. Can always add later.

Does anyone else run the volume ALMOST maxed out when on LO mode? Like with volume @ 4:00?

At first I was running HI mode all the time for the volume and more natural dirt. But as of late I have started using Lo all the time. Lo mode likes pedals better imo.
Last night I did a gig with the M12 in a tiny cigar bar. I run the vol wide open. Treble on 4pm and bass about 3pm. With the controls run up that high I had enough vol not to be miced. Now when I switched from to Tele to one of my P90 slide guitars I had to turn the vol down a good bit.
The M12 sounded really good and sat well in the mix. To be honest the M12 is getting more play than my Zwreck atm.
Pedal wise I am using a Wampler black 65 as my always on pedal. In front of the 65 I have a lil dinky mooer Hustle Drive *ocd clone* that I hit when I need more dirt. They mix together well. I also use Exotic SP compressor and EP booster as well as two delays.
The M12 in Lo mode really loves the wampler amp in a box pedals. I also have the Wampler 57 Tweed that sounds great into the M12. Just don't have enough room to have that and my 65 at the same time.
