I have been messing with her through a boat load of speakers, and now it's in the smaller 1-10 box. While looking for my spare Green back 10" , I found an Eminence Delta Demon, forgot I even had it. Anyway, It was a perfect fit....My M12 seemed kind of bright for some things, and this helped balance it out. So If your looking for a great 10" speaker for yours, hope this could help ya out.....It's rocking know babay !

Hi Frankie, I'm new to the forum, but have owned a EZG50 since they first came out. The EZG50 is my go to amp 90% of the time, but I'm very curious about the M12, and might consider buying one. I need a good low wattage amp, and the M12 seems to be the one. I have a Princeton, and a Champ, but in certain clubs they can be flubby when pushed. I'm looking at the M12 head. So my question is, do you prefer 10 or 12 with the M12.

Well, If I'm gigging with a drummer, a 12" over a 10" 90% of the time.....It is less flubby then a Princeton, and a touch more articulate. Very much a different vibe. It does stay pretty clean when turned up....more then the typical Z model. Do you play gig's with drummers with princeton size amps ? I can see why it would be flubby having to be pushed to the limit ! And welcome to the forum.....The M12 is a nice clean machine, kind of on the neutral side of the Z camp. Not unlike the EZG except way quieter, and not as thick....hope this helps

Thanks Frankie for posting me back. Yes I sometimes backup singer songwriters and laid back blues guys, and the drummers are pretty laid back as well. I'm looking for something with a big amp feel and decent headroom, but without the volume it takes to get a good sound. And the description you gave sounds great to me. As for speakers, that's why I want a head, so I can have options. Thanks.

Cool, Frankie! I find that speaker choice with the M12 tends to be a little more critical than with my Maz 18 NR, for example. I also "discovered" the LO mode last night like I never heard it before. After re-tweaking volume and EQ, I am actually liking it more now than HI mode, both with and without OD pedals. The highs and high mids are a little sweeter and OD pedals seem to be a little smoother and more articulate...rounder. That little bit of edginess/aggressiveness of high mode which is there almost no matter where you put the TREBLE knob is gone in LO mode. I still like the HI mode for a few things, but I think that LO mode is going to be my main setting going forward!

I never could get a 10 to sound like i wanted, although i havent tried every 10 in the world like Frankie! however, i gotta tell you that the M12 with a Blue is pretty dang hard to beat.

I really liked the 10" Gold with the Carmen Ghia so that is my next 10" to try with the M12. Have you tried the Gold yet Frankie?

No, not a Gold, but did try a Blue 12, If I pull a wire off my ZWreck cab, I can here a Gold 12"......The Blue was decent, but imparts that certain character you either love or hate. The Delta Demon 10" is actually a 100w speaker, voiced on the dark side....seems like a perfect fit. I see a lot of good reports with the Golds, but they are a little on the pricey side, especially if you just want to try it...usually the places I deal with will not let you return them, which stinks too.

Actually, the 10" gold can be had for $175 which isn't too bad. I get what you're saying about the darker speaker though.

Delta Demon, only $74.99. They have really upped there game over the past few years, in general we always considered them generic re-placement speakers, but not anymore. They should have something for most applications. Good CS too.

When it comes to 10" speakers my choice is Eminence Ragin Cajun. They are very well balanced and efficient (100dB). Works great alone and of course even better in 2x10 cab!!

They should have something for most applications. Good CS too. I agree. I have several eminence speaks that I prefer over celestions, but most are super efficient and loud which is not what I need. For inefficient speaks I always turn to Weber. The only celestions I like are the Golds and G12M Greenback, and the greenback only for certain amps. But as you said the Gold is $$$. You get a lot of speaker for the dollar with eminence, not to mention made in the USA.

Another one to consider is the Weber Silver Ten.
