About two years ago I worked on a friend's new cd, playing on a few of the cuts. Here is a web page with two of the four songs I play on. "Innocent Invader" has a high-gain tone. "I've always been Particular" has a clean tone. I'm playing the lead parts on a 2002 LP classic into my 1x12 ghia. I like his written comment "Ian gets a very different tone out of his Dr. Z amp on this song: no pedals, folks, just the knobs that Dr. Z gave him." jessgrantmusic.com/innocent_invader_2012/

Very nice tone! Nice guitar work! What kind of speaker did you use in that 1x12? Did you just crank the Ghia or did you use an attenuator for the gain? What kind of tubes do you have in there?

Thank you! the amp is stock as far as tubes and was shipped from the factory with a celestion blue speaker. i installed a brakelite not long after buying the amp and I think the dirtier tone was achieved with the amp volume about 12 noon and the brakelite on 2. I think.... it was a while ago. for live gigs, i usually run the amp vol around 10-11 o'clock and the brakelite on 1 (2 if it's a really small/quiet venue). for outdoor gigs on a big stage, i turn the brakelite off...
