Im thinking of adding an EZG TO THE STABLE. Can anyone tell me the tonal differences between the Jaz and the EZG ? I have the tweed tones covered and I really dont want to end up with similar tone as my galaxie but with Reverb? Any advice or help is greatly appreciated

Maybe just buying an EZG may be best ;D

Buy it, you want regret it. I bought a EZG50 when they first came out, and it's my go to amp.
I just finished playing tonight, and play 4,5,6, and sometimes 7 nights a week, and it's never let me down.
If I could only have one amp, it would be the EZG50. Best overall amp I've ever had, and I've been playing 50 years.

I agree with 22watts, you want regret it. I bought my EZG-50 2 years ago, I use it 2 or 3 nights a week, it's never failed me. Best amp i've ever owned...

EZG-50 does a great clean, loud "Fender" type sound. I have gone fairly extensively into the pros and cons of this amp FOR MY NEEDS and I won't pile on here. Needless to say, it's a great amp that is built to last decades!
If you have the cash ($2k or something now days....??)- go for it, you will most likely love it.
If you're on a tight budget, a 60's Fender Bassman 100 and a reverb pedal will get you fairly close. If you dig the cleans on an EZG you probably already like Fender Supers, Bassmans and the like so this could be an alternative route. But it won't be a Z...
Cheers!

Thanks So much for the Feedback, Havent had much input, guess the EZG Users Are Snobish I have an All Original 67 BF Super , The Big FENDER tone is what I Have Chased since day 1. The Demos that DRZPLAYER Jason has done with his EZG are what have made me LUST this amp. There are tons of BF Clones out there but as you and I both know DRZ makes The Best AMPS On the Planet. The only thing that scares me a bit is the 50 watts, my SR is so LOUD. I never get to gig with the Vol above 4-5 it sounds good but at 7-10 is where it sounds BEST! . Im gonna try to get to my local DRZ dealer and test drive one.

Aren't all Dr. Z owners a little snobbish? I mean, they are some of the best amps and they ain't cheap!
I will add that an EZG-50 will get you very similar sounds to a 60's BF Super Reverb and by using the post and pre controls, at slightly louder or softer volumes (than the SR). 50 watts is a lot for some people, but works very well for me both at home and gigging. YMMV. The JAZ 20/40 is a bit more flexible and has a few more bells and whistles, but for my money it was the tone of the EZG, all the way.

I didn't post a reply because I don't own a Galaxie or Jaz to compare it to. As has been said, it's a great amp. It is a loud amp but still sounds good at lower volumes.

Mtlrecords is right, the master volume works very well on the EZG50. If you love your Super you're really going to love the EZG50. I've tried several DrZ, and I'm very interested in the M12, but the EZG50 is my keeper.

I thought the same thing about the 50 watts being too loud. Especially when I never even get to run my MAZ 18 as loud as Id like at gigs. The EZG is loud but to me it sounds good at any volume. Also, it doesn't cut as hard as most Z's I've heard or owned so its not an ear splitting loud. ( if that makes sense?) it takes pedals like a charm too. That was the one z that I really regret getting rid of. A stupid stupid man am I. *begins kicking self again* anyone got one for sale? Haha

Hey Jamie, I don't think your in any danger of duplicating tones by adopting an EZG (Galaxie w/reverb). Much different voice and with the pre/post control a wide tonal pallette at reasonable volume levels. The EZG is probably my favorite offering from the Doc (well I say that today anyway....). I think you should make a trip up to Michigan to find our yourself.

Every time I play one of these amps, even at low volume it always sounds powerful and rich!

JAZ vs EZG? Well, as a matter of fact, I own a JAZ (love it) and have an EZG on loan to me for a few months. Here is a shot from our rehearsal space last week: I rehearsed with the EZG instead of the JAZ on Friday and I have to say that the amp cuts through the mix wonderfully without being too loud. The JAZ has a scoop to it that I really like but never seems to translate in a band environment as well as the EZG. If I dime up the mids and lower the volume, its still too prominent and does not seem to lend itself to the music as I would like it to. Please note that I am being extremely nit-picky here. When talking comparisons, its hard to deliver a written message without exaggerating so that you might understand more clearly. I have always been happy with my JAZ. It does have the Trem and half power switch going for it. You can get a ton of gain or hair from the pre as well. The EZG does not have as much but will deliver what you need if blackface sound is what you seek, she'll deliver the goods. The EZG MV is very good too. I love both amps but if this makes sense to you, I want to say that for a clean platform running with my SRZ's, TONALLY the EZG wins hands down. I'm keeping my JAZ if I can afford to BUT, I am on the hunt for an EZG to replace it in the band.
