I just got an M12, but it didn't come with a brake lite, so I just ordered one from Humbucker Music. I had one installed in my Stang Ray and it really comes in handy! I play gigs almost every weekend, so it's a must have for my situation. I'm curious to see if anyone has used one with their M12 yet? Since the M12 recently came out, I haven't seen any threads about the M12/brake lite. Tonight will be my first gig with the M12, so i'm really excited to hear it with the full band!!

I have a Z-Brake, but I can't help you on how the M12 sounds with it. But that's because I have not needed it with the M12 at all. I needed it on my Maz Jr for some Worship services and a few quieter gigs but since I switched over the the M12 as my main low watt Z I have been considering putting the Z Brake up for sale on the BST. Even in sensitive volume scenarios I have not needed to back off from Noon on the volume for the M12. If I found myself in that situation I believe the "Low" switch would be perfect. Come to think of it, the Low switch really should take the place of the brake lite for you. I guess since its not adjustable, just on-off, it isn't as flexible but I can't imagine not being able to get what you need with just the switch. The Z brakes really help you when you don't know the rooms, expectations, just have too powerful an amp, etc...but I think having the right amp watts for the job (when possible) seems to work out much better. I'm loving the EF86 pre and 3 knobs set up. I have it in 12 and 45 watts now. I think a Z28 might be next to fill up the choices. Good luck at the gig...tell us how it goes!

I tried it with a BL... I don't use it with a BL. I got it for the cleans. As he says above the low switch will cut it back quite a bit. I like the low volume cleans and the higher volume cleans and how it plays well with all types of pedals. 70's funk riffs are a blast with this amp. I have been gigging with mine and I love it! It has that "In Your Face" attitude! I think you will love it too!

I play in my townhouse. The brake lite is always maxed. Sounds awesome. I like the high switch on, and keep the volume around 10:30-11. Works great for me :-)

I have a bunch of high end attenuators but have never needed one with the M12. I use the high setting because of the better interaction with OD pedals but the amp maintains its sweet spot with pedals to pretty low volumes. But, if you're cranking the amp for your dirt, then I think you'd definitely need an attenuator for all but the loudest situations.
