Hello. I think the Dave Baker demo of this amp provides some of the best tone I've ever heard on youtube, especially the first thing he plays. Monza owners: how close to this tone can one get with the 1x10 combo and which speaker would be best? Also, for ultimate portability/flexibility for cover band I was thinking of paring the amp with TC Nova system - any thoughts? Thanks guys.

I think the 10" Red Fang makes the amp seem more overdriven. The G12H is great speaker and seems (to me) to tame the OD of the Monza. Both speakers together is a deadly combo. I don't know if any 10" speaker can compare to the G12H. FWIW.

So... does the Monza need taming as far as overdrive is concerned? How does it do as a pedal platform and for getting some cleans (with the guitar knob back I assume)? Also why did you sell yours? Thanks.

If you get a Monza you probably need the MV mod - it allows you to clean up your sound. The amp itself can go from clean to fuzz tone - no pedal needed for it. That said - like all Z amps, they can handle most pedals you throw at them. Without the mod, it is hard to get bedroom levels from the amp - with it I can keep it in my living room to noodle with while the wife is watching TV.

Unfortunately I've never gotten to actually play one so this is based on all the monza demos. I thought I might want the 1x10 combo but it doesn't seem to have the depth or balls of the 1x12 or head through cab to the point that the convenience isn't worth it. Thinking about getting the head. The Monza just seems to be going after such a different tone than other amps on the market. It's sooo thick. Anybody feel the amp is over compresed or like it has a fuzz pedal built in somewhere?

Just picked one of these up off ebay with the MV. Anyhow, the amp is definitely awesome/everything I wanted. It sounds way better than the demo and that was what originally sold me on it. Don't really see it being a good match if you need cleans. You can definitely dial back the volume to clean it up but it will never sound like a "Fender clean" at live volumes. If you are looking for that get something else. I run it through a closed back 2x12 cab with a Vintage 30 and a G12H30 and it is crushing sounding but you can still hear every single note in a chord. I used it once through whatever is in a single 12 inch Orange Tiny Terror matching cab (I think a vintage 30) and it sounded okay but 2 speakers make it enough to compete with almost any amp without even maxing the master volume.

Coolest thing about a Monza combo (if you've got the loud-as-hell Red Fang 10 in it) is that you can set it next to somebody's [insert big-name rock 'n' roll half-stack here] and watch their jaws drop when you go full-throttle on the Monza's volume.

Thanks Guys, very helpful. I don't need fender cleans anyway. I think I'm going to go for the head as it leaves open the option for different cabs and hey it's lighter anyway. Thanks.
