Hey y'all! I just want to get a feeling on how everyone utilizes the features on their Galaxie.
How do you run your extension plug?
What can I use the ac plug for?
What preamp tubes have you swapped in lieu of 12ax7's?
Like all Z amps, this is a killer!

Speakers make a big difference - try a G12-65 with it!

12Ay7 in V1 will give you a bit more clean headroom as will a SS or 5ar4 rectifier.
enjoy the amp..

Speakers make a big difference - try a G12-65 with it! I like the G12-65 and/or a Gold for my 1X12 applications. My favorite in the 10" variety would be two Weber AlNiCo Silver 10". I typically run my channel one at the "edge of break-up" where I can back off my guitar volume for cleans, or bite in hard for a little dirt. And then channel two is just over the top fun... I don't use the AC outlet or the "extension" out. I get everything I need from the "8." If you do some poking around, there are some threads about the "extension" out. I remember the Doc saying that the transformer in the Galaxie is pretty robust and can handle some mismatched impedance. But I'd look for those threads first or perhaps email Doc w/ any questions. Enjoy that amp!

NO preamp tube swapping here....6L6WGBs in the power section are VERY cool. Killer?....WAAAAAYYYYY beyond that, bruthr!!

Sweet info, guys! I am using an open 2x10 with an eminence Ragin Cajun and Patriot. I can't wait to use the extension into my Marshall 4x12 straight cab, it's a 1980's JCM 800 cab! It's gonna be killer

Hell yeah, I should post that! Not enough media with the galaxies on the internet! There was a video or two on Youtube from a Z-Fest a couple years back. There was also a guy that did a couple w/ a Reverand guitar. Our own Starrman (Frankie Star) did a couple of nice ones. I tried finding some of those old ones and couldn't. I don't know if they've been pulled or what... But you're right, there's not enough media on this great amp. Probably one of the best sources is here in the Z-Talk audio clips section of TROCKS stuff. Being the official "Ambassador of All Things Gaxie," He shows off a lot of what the Gal can do. "From clean to mean and Chett to Chains..." I forgot about this vid I found recently that does a pretty good job of demoing the Gal...

Been away from the Galaxie section for a while .... Am jumpin' back-in for a while as I have been fortunate enuff to find my way back to a MV-mod Galaxie head for the next lil' while ... courtesy of a good friend and some inneresting karma As I mentioned in a recent post, I use the 8ohm speaker line for my Z 210 cab (old style, rectangle box) and the ext line for my Z 112 cab (old style, rectangle box). Pentode Bass @ 11:30 Treb @ 12:30 Vol 1 @ 10:00 Vol 2 @ 10:00 Master Vol @ 10:00 ..... guitar volume and tone controls to taste As for the AC plug, I've not yet tried this .... but I think I may connect my BEv ERage chiller to it .... yup best regards and cheers always, Joel
