Hello all. Just checking in as a new member of the SR gang. I purchased Randal's head and it is a beauty. Not as loud as I suspected, based on some of the posts I had read, but plenty loud enough when you hit the strings, and with a pedal it speaks with real authority. I have been playing through a port City OS 1x2 with a C Gold and it puts out a lot of bass, enough so I am trying to diagnose a rattle in the cab when I hit the B note on the sixth string. Great articulation and immediacy to the notes. A truly wonderful sound with the strat. I am fortunate to have discovered what the Dr. Z amps can do.

Also I have a OS112 and I've found one of my least favorite speaker the V30 works very well with that cab. It looses a bit of the boomieness.

Great Amp, I have a 1x12 combo with a Gold, and do not get that Bass issue you have
Think port City is a ported cab, they're usually tuned to some resonant frequency Perhaps just not ideal for your setup
MUCH prefer Golds in an open back
Agree on the authority with pedals, this baby don't collapse at all Seems to wake up more with pedals

Congrats I have a Stangray with Dr Z 212 open back Blue/Gold mix. The amp is very loud and no problem keeping up with the drummer or mix.
