Hi guys,
about 2 weeks ago My Maz 18 reverb started making a noise intermittently. This noise is not valve related as i have swapped them all in and out with valves, all of which were recently tested by my amp tech (including the ones in the amp). The noise i can only describe as a loud fuzzy/crackly/hissy noise!?
i got the chassis out today and had a look, there are two components which look suspect...
1) a small resistor which looks to be burned/charred?
2) a small capacitor i think, which seems to have something leaked out the end of it?
My question is i suppose, could these components make an intermitent noise of this nature,
thanks
George

Also,
please excuse the burned board on the Cathode Bias resistor, the guy who had it before me took it to be serviced somewhere, and the amp tech who serviced it took it upon himself to change the CB resistor to a bizarre value which meant the output stage was not getting driven at all!? Unfortunatley when he did this, he did a real hatchet job of the soldering. I've recently had it changed to the proper value resistor, and it sounds killer now the output stage is being pushed nicely..

In an audio circuit anything is posable to cause noise. I haven't seen those parts in question fail, and the burns look a bit suspect. But PM me your address and I'll mail you the two parts, change them and see.

Thank you very much I have to say, the amp is absolutely killer!! I went with your recomendation of a NOS 5V4, and it sounds stunning! Also, I have to say, your customer service is just as good as the amp
