I have had to make some tough decisions as of late. I had the opportunity to purchase an amp that I have been searching for "USED" For a long time , I found it, Got it! ;D The bad thing..... I spent money I really didnt have to fund the purchase.. This means something in the fleet has to move , That Darn DRZ!! He makes amps so so good its so hard to part with , which is my hard choice. I have put my Galaxie up On the BST I know I will regret this But I guess I can always get another when the funds allow. Has anyone else been through this or done this??? Help me feel better

Hey man!
Sorry to hear! I feel for you... I've been contemplating a Germino something or another for a little while, and unfortunately, one of my Zs might need to go to help fund it. Not knowing what you picked up, I'm sure you'll be able to pick up another Gal in the future even w/ them being discontinued. Not only are they fairly readily available on the used market, but usually you can get one in the $800-$1000 range. Great amps at a relatively inexpensive price point.
So, what was she sacrificed for?

I traded a Stangray and a Remedy for one of my "wish list" amps - a Soldano SLO. I ended up picking up a Stingray about 6 months later. This morning I acquired a Remedy. It only took 18 months but I've got my Zs back. Oh yea, I still have the SLO

It's a process, this acquiring music gear. There's always trading, overspending, and whatnot. Luckily, I haven't had much seller's remorse (although I wouldn't mind getting that Mazerati back off Pintail...).

Amps come and go in this lifetime. It happens. I had a Galaxie combo w/ presence control that I bought and sold twice. I have rotated in-and-out a coupla Ghias. Even the Z-28 has moved. Came back to the Galaxie club when I acquired my current blonde head w/MV mod. Been parked ontop my Z 210 cab for the past two years. Matches up nicely with my Remedy and 112 cab .... and yes, that Remedy has been out and back too Make ya feel better? Dont worry so much. Tone chasing and gear acquisition aint never easy .... but it can be purty dang fun ..... but never easy if it is a dollars and cents kinda gear reduction ... at this point in life I am not touring, gigging, or even jamming so had to make some decisions that brought me down to two Z Amps (for now) cheers always, Joel

I feel your pain Jamie. Mine did not sell although I had many offers of trades. I was selling mine for two reasons, she doesn't get enough play time anymore, cuz I'm in earshot of too many neighbors and I've been acquiring other low-powered amps, (Marshall 50th 1-watters). So the cash was needed, but I decided to move forward with purchases anyway. In retrospect I'm kinda glad she didn't sell, maybe I'll send her in for a tune-up and the MV mod. Good luck to ya' and don't feel too bad.

I have come back, Thank Goodness! a Moment of Clarity!!! I have pulled the plug on the Selling of my Beloved Galaxie, I was playing it this evening and through 2x12's Its just a Beast!!!! and with a Strat its just Heavenly, Its not worth GIVING AWAY such a Tone Maker, Its the Market is why this amp is being Driven down in Resale Value, Ran it down about as low as I could go. I figure, I have other stuff I can sell to compensate for my Recent purchase, The Bottom Line..... Someone once said Your FN ^ ...... They were so so right, Just sayin.... ;D thanks for the help with a dose of reality. THE GALAXIE IS AN AMAZING AMP She's not going anywhere for a while, if you're itching to sell, or you are thinking the mojos not there, try the 2x12 and a set of Big Bottle Blackplate 6L6's it will do the trick!!!!

Hey Jamie, I think you made the right move. The Galaxie is not just a great amp, it has a unique combination of features and components that for me make it irreplaceable ( Triads, AC outlet, pentode/triode, foot switch, tone/gain controls that have real control ) yet it is pure and simple. It's possible I may at one point stop playing electric altogether, but until that day, this is my mainstay amp. There are so many great Z amps, and some other amps from the past and present too, but when an amp hits most of the marks you are needing and using the most you have to keep it and trade perhaps the ones that don't constitute the majority of what you do. I too have other amps, and have had some legendary ones that the Galaxie cannot sound like, but the combination of features and vintage/modern tones keep it in the stable. Did I mention note definition, clarity, and poke? Enjoy your decision, and yes I did look at pics of your amp and if I had sold mine, I would have had to buy it.
