...you play sounds any good? And I'm not talking personal performance. I'm talking about the way tone hits the ear. You know - no matter what guitar you play or amp or pedal you play through everything just sounds like dreck? Yeah, when that happens to me I have found the perfect solution - plug into your RAY!!!!! Seriously. No matter what else everything else is sounding like (and I just experienced this phenomenon again about 20 minutes ago!) if I just plug into the Ray, I know exactly what is coming out of there will sound blissful - and it does! Now, I don't have these "nothing is working or sounding good" days very often, but when I do - the Ray is the Remedy for the problem. Every time. Thank you Doc, for this amazing fantastic machine of aural bliss!

Greg, I get those days too. I usually take a long hike in the woods to shake it off.
But the Ray is just what the Dr ordered every time. Agreed...

Okay, after today I'm wondering if it's just that the Ray sounds so good compared to everything else. Starting to lean heavily in that direction....... ;D

I'm confused! You're sayin' the Ray is the Remedy? Huh.... Well, I've been out of work, recovering from surgery. I'm stir crazy being stuck lying around and dealing with bandages and such. So, in a fit of delerium I just bought Randal P's StangRay head, even though there's absolutely no need for such behavoir. Now, however, I'm thinkin' that is just what I needed to get well! Yeah, that's it! That amplifier is gonna promote my well being and accelerate my recovery! Why didn't I see that before? It is all so clear to me now. Holy toledo, .....

Funny enough I used to have those days all the time but (and I'm not exaggerating here) it hasn't happened once since I got a Z.

Funny...I'm feeling exactly the opposite about the Ray. I am not bonding with the Ray at all. Don't get me wrong...it is a great amp. I have put in new tubes...changed speakers...tweaked and tweaked...can't get it to do what I like to hear. Probably going on the BST soon. Stay tuned. On the other hand...I love my Maz 18's....so I won't be without a Z.

I had a good run in the honey moon phase but when all the dust settled I found it wasn't really the amp for me. A little annoying that it wasn't the greatest platform for pedals. Nice big bottom end, slightly peircing highs (with 2X12 Celestion Blues) and no midrange, where a guitar amp should really shine.

I found the Ray to be a good pedal platform. My problem is that in order to make it sound like I like it...it was too loud. The amp sounds better the more you turn it up. I just can't turn it up as much as I'd like to at most of the places I play, and I didn't like the way it sounded with a Brakelite. I was never a fan of the blues in this amp...I tried G12H30's in there and they sounded awesome,(more of a Fender tone) but not at a usable volume for me. Seems like you have to get the tubes cooking for this amp to shine. Either way I will find it a good home.

Sorry to hear that you guys aren't bonding with the Ray. Completely understandable though, as we all like & hear different things. But understanding that, and moving the amp on - will give you a chance for something else / something new and something more to your liking. Plus - the RAY used should bring a good price.
