Hey there Z-talkers.
I'm a new Maz 8 owner (and first-timer with Dr Z) and, first off, let me say I love the thing. It's awesome.
I am wondering, though, if the reverb is working. This is my first amp with reverb, admittedly, and I have not used reverb before. Now after having the amp for a month or so, though, I don't know if I've ever used it. Is the built-in reverb really subtle?
I know the 12AT7 and one of the 12AX7s are involved, and I've changed them out (actually, I changed out all the tubes just to experiment). I have disconnected and reconnected the little tank job in the speaker bay. It seems like I recall there being more of a difference with it on or off. I can tell something's happening; for example, one of the 12AT7s is a little microphonic, so I know the signal's going through, but I can't really tell a heck of a lot of difference.
I'm really pleased with the amp, I just can't imagine it's Working As Intended, as it were. I bought it from Humbucker, and went through the steps they talked me through on the phone (reconnecting, tube swapping), and I plan to call them back on Monday but I thought if there were something else to try I'd give it a go.
Also, if it's just something subtle and I'm a knucklehead, that would be good to know also. Saying that, although I haven't ever really messed with reverb, I know what it sounds like. I assume this built-in reverb is "spring reverb," which has to me sounded more subtle than, say, an EH Holy Grail on Hall or Room, but I'm just confused by this setting.
The rest of the knobs and switches I can dig.
Thank you all in advance!
