Derek and the Dominos - Layla and other assorted ....Long time favorite of mine that I've been giving a lot of listen-time to these songs as of late .... Little Wing, I Looked Away, It's Too Late ... and of course, the title track. Anybody else dig-it? cheers always, Joel

Always dig it. My folks listened to it all the time and it takes me back to a happy childhood.
Cued it up this morning, and it hit me how so many tracks just scream "strat into fender amp" in a _good_ way. Always loved "Anyday" ... wanted to cover that song for years but never really learned it.

One of my favorites. I have the original vinyl, a CD set and the fancy box reissue, the one with the Strat pickguard

While many people disparage EC as being past his prime - it was this album (yes it was an album back then) that made me want to play guitar! Gonna have to throw this in the playlist this afternoon Thanks for reminding me Joel!

The word 'classic' is over used but this record is really something. It was a very good core group of guys who had played together for quite a while w some excited friends. The record was made pretty quick by today's standards at a studio that became legendary. As a producer I use this record as an example to a lot of younger players on how to play what is sometimes called "lead guitar" without stepping on the vocal. It's a real primmer on how to do that. There's a lot of famous guys that could go back to school on this one for just that.
Great playing and fantastic singing.
If you have access to the out takes there is a fantastic rock and roll up tempo version of "Tell The Truth" that uses the 'train beat'. It's one of my favorites.
To me EC was on top of his game here.

Tho I am sure I've heard it more than a thousand times, the intro to "Layla" to me is still a spiritual event......
I agree with all the posters here......Nice stuff Joel!!! Thanks, Bro!

Classic? Yes Timeless? Yes YEs. I agree that this album stands out for many reasons (and I at one time owned this as a double vinyl rekkid album) @ roscoenyc .... I dig that you would use this a reference for "lead" playing alongside vocals ..... cheers always
