I looked back over the posts in this section from the last couple years and didn't see this topic (surprisingly). So, what do you guys have that works really well with the 66? Particularly drive pedals, but other are more than welcome .

I find the OCD (V1 if it matters) fantastic. More of the amp itself.

Tried some Xotic pedals today with some surprising and interesting results: - RC - This one floored me. I've always used as a clean boost. I put in on the board because it improves cleans but if you increase the gain over 12:00 and the RT66 is loud ... it's got some interesting sounds.
- BB - It has always been a really tight pedal for me ... but again it works pretty well.
- EP - Now a lot of people really like this pedal but I've never really found a use for it. But ... at about 9:00 with the RT66 loud ... pretty impressive.
- Stacking either the RC>EP or RC>BB also work if you don't crank the RC gain too high.
I think these all work pretty well because they have sort of tight grain in the overdrive ... but it seems to work with the RT66 loud. But damn ... my ears are ringing with the Brake Lite on 4 ... after 30 minutes.

The Route 66 loud, is glorious. You have to move the volume, treble, and bass to at least 3 o'clock and then look out. The higher the better. Just saying.

Oh I know...thats where I have it set most of the time. Its painful I guess I should say what I use. I use a Diamond EQ/Boost most of the time and it just pushes it to the sweet spot, and I can add some punch with more mids. I also use a Gas FX Drive Thru and it'll do any kind of drive really, but it sounds way better loud just like the drive on an amp. Tried the Pinnacle Deluxe and hated it, but I'd be interested to try the BB.

I tried the RC in front of the 3:00-3:00-3:00 and even the 5:00-5:00-5:00 setting. That was pretty good ... but damn. My left ear is still ringing several hours later even with the BL maxed. If I back off the volume on the amp, it's not the same. Pretty good with that RC though although I've never used the RC that way before. The EP at 9:00 in front was good too. Both were getting most of the gain from the amp and just adding a bit on the front.

Hitting it harder puts the Route in a great place, imho. I never got the hang of using the Z Air Brake. I got sick of hooking it up and eventually went with a pedal that would give me what I wanted at lower volumes. I know some guys swear by the brakes. To me it's kind of like splitting hairs. Hey, whatever works for you.

RC Booster is great, and I add an AC Booster for a little more gain if i need it.

I notice most love the xotic pedals. I compared the BB and the OCD and found the BB Heavily colored my tone. Do others not find this to be the case, or is it a coloring you like? I found the OCD in LO mode the best. HI mode seems colored to me as well.
I guess at the end of the day tone is subjective so glad everyone is happy here in Z land.

Fulltone Fulldrive II fits the bill for me.

DC here!
Dont use pedals much lately - I'm just too lazy ;D ;D ;D But for OD-pedals the Paul Cochrane Timmy pedal is hard to beat.
It's almost totally transparent if thats what you want to achieve. (you have to tweak the tone controls a bit)
Cheers: Dixiechicken!

Right now, Menatone Fish Factory, (one side drive, the other side gain, both = mayhem) but also had great experiences with the RC Booster and OCD (V2.) Lately, it's been the Les Paul with a Strymon Brigadier on the front, glorious. I just can't believe how well this amp takes pedals.

Well, I'm usually not an 'overdrive' person, but today I bought a MXR Custom Bada$$ Overdrive.
I think I'll give it a whirl with '66 this weekend.

I think this is where I will probably land ... RC - For cleans and adding a little shimmer - might be always on Timmy - Just a great light OD - stacks well on the RC BB - A little hard edge Marshally OD - likes to just stack on the RC Dispatch Master - Combined Reverb/Delay - just a little when laying at home - maybe a bit less when playing live i won't know for sure until I can play it out ... but this pedal layout works for my Tweed too.
