When I swapped my Maz for the Route I knew it was a special amp as soon as I plugged it in and hit that first note. It was the same feeling I got the first time I plugged into the Stang Ray. I dont know how the doc does it; he must be some kind of amp god! I cant believe it took me so long to try a Z.
The Route to me feels like the Stang Ray's bigger, louder, meaner brother. While the Ray Screams, the Route just punches you square in the face and floors you. I love the Ray, and I think its clean tones are pure tonal bliss and the dirt is phenomenal...but the Route...may well be my desert island amp. I've only turned my Ray on twice since I got it and quickly switched back to the Route. It has GREAT clean tones, with lots of headroom, and the dirty rock tones are out of this world; I've never heard anything like it; perfection.
Now Im intrigued AND afraid to try any other Z amps...

I love hearing this. The Route 66 is just special, period. Mike Fuller said as much a few years back.
I think there is a reason guys/gals, buy and own multiple Z's. Besides the fact that they are some of the best made amps, using top notch components. Each design has it's own character. There may be some over lap here and there (not a bad thing), but each amp has it's own tone and character.
Congrats on the 66 love. The more you play with her dials, the more love you'll find.

Ya so far of the 3 I've had they have had some similarities, but were very different, and they've all been great (the Maz just not for me, but still a great amp). I'm still REALLY intrigued by the Remedy and SRZ...I'll have one of them eventually. The Route has curbed my "great rock amp" gas for now though .

I know it's not help but last night's rehearsal was out of this world! Rt. 66 through a beat up "Narshall" (the "M" is broken) 4x12. T=2:00, B=11:00, V=2:00 and the AirBrake was two notches down from WFO. Add the Nocaster to the mix and I was in heaven!
What? I can't hear you...speak up!

Sorry for the fuel guys . I've actually become so confident in the awesomeness of the Route that I decided I'm going to send the Ray back today while I still can. Makes the wife happy too because the Route cost me a fair bit less. This is why it drives me nuts that stores dont carry more Z amps (or other quality amps for that matter). I'd never tried them because they never have them, and now when they do I cant make an educated decision off the bat because they have so few...and then they get pissy when you bring stuff back.
