I am just stunned with the Route 66. I tend to play oldies but I like a bit of bite on it. I also play more contemporary stuff like Brian Setzer and so on.
Well... I try to play Brian Setzer....
...anyways...
With the first note I knew this was going to be bad (in a good way). I have played so many amps where it was just SOOOOO close to what I wanted. So close, in fact, I couldn't quite articulate what it was that was missing. Old Fender Twins. Vox AC30s. Marshall JTM45s. Every clone you can think of.
I had planned to sit and play for about 5 minutes. An hour and half later... I was actually perspiring from the intensity of play.
I ran through Stray Cats tunes... Bill Haley... Chuck Berry...
It all sounded just incredible. This amp is IT.
I am in no danger of affording it immediately, but I gotta say I have a goal now.
Beauty of a match for my Heritage H575 and old Gretsch 6120.
For what I was looking for, this just might be perfection.

I am still just stunned. It has been well over a half day now... and it is hard not to think about just how good that sounded. The Route 66 and Z-Best is on the list. The only feature I don't see that there is a half power switch. So... I might have to get a power soak to get the volume managable for at-home break up. Anyways... this is all a ways off. haha. A goal though!

I know! I have pretty well settled into the thought that I will just be playing for my own enjoyment at the house so... the danger of it getting damaged is very, very minimal. I could get gigs if I played metal still. I guess I could.. but my heart just isnt in it. So... I play oldies for my own enjoyment. I hope to have a set up consisting of the Heritages H575, H525 and H535, Gretsch 6120 and G&L ASAT Bluesboy. If I go solid body, it will be to dig into 70's and VERY early 80's rock such as Rush, Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin and AC/DC and so on. THEN I'd just HAVE to get the Monza with a Heritage H150 and a Gibson Les Paul SG Custom. Just saying. haha.
