Have had the Maz 8 at the studio for a few days. Really enjoying dialing in tones. Hearing the diff between front end distortion and the power tube distortion. I really like the reverb a lot too. A little to busy to grab any clips but this thing really delivers. Been playing it through my 2 x 12" open cab with the Blue and the G12H30. Moving the mic from speaker to speaker. No attenuator needed.
What a fantastic rig.

Look forward to some clips when you can Eric, along with settings. The tone sheet is still a mite sparse compared to Big Brother MAZ 18's listings.

ah, was flying today. Did one song soup to nuts with a band from Boston called Girls, Guns and Glory. Used the Maz 8 for all the electric stuff including some baritone guitar. Those 2 volumes are really sweet!

I hear ya Eric, the more time I spend with this amp the more I like it, especially with different guitars and bouncing between the high and low inputs.

the thing I find most interesting is the difference in the grit and growl from the Pre amp section and the Power section. It reminds me of the first time I had a truly great world class aged Porterhouse steak. The tenderloin side tastes totally different than the outside.

Good analogy Eric, they're both good but different. I've been diggin the power amp section more so lately. This thing is a beast of tones.

Used it this week for a bunch of 'secret chug' type parts on the Del-Lords upcoming record. Even used it for Baritone. A crunchy baritone. Mighty cool amp.

I can't believe the range of this amp with a microphone in front of it. Yesterday I used it with my old Space Echo 150 on triode for some sort of french horn type stuff. Also used it to feed our Leslie/Fender guitar cab (w the vintage Altec speaker) for some great subtle Leslie stuff.

More MAZ 8 in the studio action
I had my buddy Andy York (Mellencamp, Ian Hunter) over yesterday for a round of overdubs. We started out with the MAZ 8 through my Z 2 x 12 (Blue G12H) getting a great sound right away. Then it was on to more of a 'solo' tone. Was about to plug in some pedals when I though, Where's that footswitch for the EQ Bypass? I found it right where I put it. damn that thing was just so awesome. Andy was playing a '03 Historic '62 SG reissue. I don't think we touched a knob the rest of the day on that amp, putting OD's on 4 more tunes. What an awesome amp.

^^^
I've liked the EQ bypass ever since Doc offered it as a retrofit on the older MAZs. It appears it's not to everyone's taste, which is fine. With the bypass engaged, there are only three knobs to use, excluding 'verb, but you can get a whole lot out of those knobs and adjusting the guitar controls.
I still recall Eddie's jazz posting with a Strat and a MAZ 18 with bypass. Not what I'd think of as a typical jazz setup, but it sounded so good.
