Thoughts? I'm going to order an 8 Studio 1x12. My intention is to use this amp for gigs at smaller venues, as well as all our rehearsals. We do classic rock, blues, R&B, Motown and the like. My main guitars are:
1) 52RI Tele with Lollar Specials. She spends a lot of time in open G for Stones tunes.
2) Stock 50th Anniversary AmSe Strat, non-noisless pickups, very much a classic Strat tone.
Current main amp is a Maz38 Sr. with reverb, 1x12 with the stock G12-H30.
Never lived with a Blue, really like my 38, not sure which way to go on this. For the sake of argument, assume the extra money for the Blue is not an issue and the decision is based on tone alone.
Thanks!

as i decide on what Z to purchase, torn between the Maz jr, Maz 8 & Carmen Ghia but thats another thread to discuss, that i'll need help on i'm was also pondering this same dilemma, stock or upgrade speaker, but i realized i could purchase the Blue in your instance after market for the same up charge, give or take that Z charges. and end up with 2 speakers to fool around with, yes i realize i'll have to install in, small trade off i think, so that's how i've decided on these speaker upgrades other than that in your situation for tone difference i'd get the Blue at some point as your already running the H 30

I ordered mine with the H30 as I've never been a fan of the Blue as a stand-alone speaker. I like the Blue paired with others. I like the Maz 8 with the H30, I've been using it at band practice. I do have a blue in another cab so I took it out and swapped with the H30 in the Maz 8. Just playing the Maz8/Blue combination by itself sounds great. I would probably use it for a studio type situation. But, with the band and gigging, I really like the H30 better, so that's what I'm sticking with. The H30 just seemed to cut through better when the whole band was playing, and seemed to be a touch cleaner with later breakup.

I agree with jess, I think the H30 cuts through a little better in live situations.
