MAZ Jr NR head and 1x12 cab....used it with the BL SA at practice last night and it worked great!
Question for those running with a FOH or monitoring system...instead of mic'ing the cab, anyone using a direct box/speaker simulator that accepts speaker level output and sends balanced mic-level signal to feed the house/monitors? (For instance, I have an old H&K Red Box Pro direct box that has a 4x12 cab "simulated sounds"). Sound quality questions aside...would prefer a good mic, but that has pros and cons.
Bottom line - would hanging such a direct box off the BA SL in parallel with the 8ohm cab give me any different impedance load for the amp compared to just the cab?
Thanks for any feedback!

Depends on the specific details of the box in question.

I suppose I could just put it in series with my cab and BL SA as it is designed...and avoid the parallel question all together.

I run my Palmer direct box between the amp and my Brakelite,as you suggested above, works great.

I've been using the original, active H&K Redbox for about twenty years. I've had some sound guys get concerned when I pull it out but after they hear it they tend to like it. I like the fact that it doesn't compress and add distortion like a 58 or some other mics.
also I would run it between the head and the brakelite, they have a very large input impedance(500K) that shouldn't mess with you speaker impedance.

Sounds like a good plan. I'll give it a try. Thanks for the info.
