I only use the rack jobs in the studio since I have half of my life's savings in 'em but I did just get a Bearfoot Pale Green Compressor. Will dutifully check it out mañana.

Going to check out an Ego Compressor here locally tomorrow. I'm not really a compressor guy, but if it sounds good...

I like the EGO comp. It seems to have the best range of compression. I have been able to get the heavey "squashed" style compression out of it, and the open chord style compression. You can really make it attack the front end of the amp.

Been through a bunch. Had the Keeley twice. Great tone but too squishy even at low settings. Barber was better, but brightened everything even with the color trim pot rolled back.
Currently have the Diamond on my electric board. Just a great foundation pedal to feed the rest of the chain, and the tone knob is the best. I use a Carl Martin for acoustic gigs. You can get just the amount of compression, without screwing with the acoustic tone.
The Bearfoot sounds nice, and I am interested in the JHS Pulp 'n Peel as well

OK, I just got the Ego Comp the other day. It's my favorite. The Keeley is really good, and CAN be set subtle, and the Barber of course also has the clean blend like the Ego does, but there's just something a little different about the Ego... not sure what it is yet... that makes it my definite favorite of the 3. Plus, it's smaller than the Barber.
So, having owned the Keeley twice, the Barber twice, and now the Ego- my vote for "best" goes to the Ego.

Bearfoot comp sounds great!
I like the Keeley for the "squish" effect. New fave overall is the SonicEdge Tumbleweed - comp/boost combo. The comp side is another "for those who don't like compressors" pedal. Very, very transparent. Replaced my much loved Barber comp. Still love the Barber - one of the best out there.

I've used the boss CS3, wamper ego comp and a keley comp. The ego compressor stayed. Though I will admit I do miss the bloody minded squish the CS3 dolled out, not having the option to water it down for daft levels of compression without the accompanying guilt brought on by the ego compressors' blend knob is liberating. For the country stuff, I'm addicted to squish, I'm suffering from a lack of interest in non country guitar music, people just don't get the twang here, I don't get the one fret 5 minute bend anymore either ;D

I have a Carl Martin Quattro pedal. For those who don't know, it is an analog multi-effects unit with Compressor, Two stage OD, Chorus and a Tap Tempo Delay. When purchased, the compressor was just kind of an add-on/throw in feature. But since spending time with it, I really like it! Carl Martin makes stand alone units for each of the Quattro's effects, so you may want to look in to that. Scott
