Anyone care to share what their favorite 6L6's and bias setting you're using in the Galaxie. I've got the GT 6L6GE's in my older one at 25wattls/70% bias, SS recto. I just installed new =C= 6L6's in my 2010 Galaxie with Myles suggested 30watt/60% bias, 5Ar4 recto and it seems to sound kind of harsh and not digging it.
thanks guys rp

Fave 6L6's for my (current) Galaxie? Whatever Z put in at the shop have been fine so far .... now that you mention it, I never have looked to see what they are. Previously, I had a 112 Galaxie combo with the Presence control that I put some GT 6L6's in ... and was happy with the sounds ..... various life events meant that I was not able to retain the combo, but the MV-mod head that I got now has done a great job of easing the pain. I do believe T-Rock put in some NOS tubes of some sort that must have somethin' special goin' on as can be evidenced thru the sound-clips he's posted in the past. P'raps he'll chime-in to give the specifics ;D cheers always, Joel

NOS Tung Sol 5881 / 6L6 WGB. Phillips made some (I think) Sylvania but GE and RCA I have had were clearly made by Tung Sol. NOS - accept no substitutes. New Tung Sol are NOT the same.

I asked Brent what is currently shipping. (The info on the Z website is a couple years old for the Galaxie tube info.)
Mike, Groove Tubes 6L6GE is the preferred 6L6 in the Galaxie. We also like the Winged C 6L6. Get a medium rating. Thanks,

IIRC Tony, you also have RCA 7025 in V1, V2 and V3? I forget what you are running for a rectifier.
7025 are so-called broadcast quality 12AX7, smooth and *quiet*.
