John(Pintail) and I traded amps. My Mazerati for his KT-45. Fedex delivered the KT yesterday afternoon. I only got to mess w/ it for a little while as it was "family night" last night, and the kids were getting agitated w/ all the noise I was making. I ran it through my Z Convertable 1X12 w/ a Celestion Gold.
It was quite spectacular w/ my ASATs (a Z-3 and an ASAT Special). What really grabbed me, though, was my P90 equipped Guild Bluesbird. I'm not all that wild about the cleans I get from the Duncan P90s through any amp I've had. The KT made those 'pups sound glorious! I've never heard that guitar sound so good clean (I always liked it raunched-up a bit).
It has sort-of a Voxy AC-type chime to it clean and dirty. It is extremely articulate. It gets phenomenal old-school Rush type dirty sounds (and I wasn't even trying to play Rush - the sounds coming out of the speaker just compelled me to break into that stuff); I guess that's the Hiwatt influence.
It is LOUD! I really couldn't use it at home unattenuated (unless I'm just wanting to play clean or use a pedal for my dirt). The only way I felt comfortable getting dirty sounds was Air Braked to Bedroom-Max. Clicking back to 4 was just way too loud in the house. I did click up to zero for all of about one open E power chord before the Queen Bee kiboshed that fun.
I'm hoping to get more quality time w/ it this evening. I'm wanting to try a couple of other speakers and some 'bucker equipped guitars.
If I'm feeling comfortable w/ it tonight, I may use it for church tomorrow morning...
